Google yet again showcased the capabilities that it's bringing to Android XR and its Prototype Glasses at Google I/O. The demos primarily showcased Gemini's capabilities and a bit about what users can expect on the hardware side of things. Google will collaborate with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for the styling and chassis of the Glasses. As for the demos, they mostly involved the in-lens display and Gemini. With support for Google apps, users could do things like sending messages, taking photos, navigating via Google Maps, and speaking to Gemini Live.

At Google I/O 2025, the company revealed their next generation Imagen 4 image generation model. Imagen 4 can generate more detailed images, in various aspect ratios at up to 2k resolution with correct spellings. Google also discussed about their Lyria 2 music generation model and introduced SynthID detectors to catch AI generated media. 

Google has introduced their new Veo 3 video generation tool which can now create audio as well with immaculate lip syncing. The company has also introduced Flow, an AI film making tool which lets you control camera and edit AI video clips. Both of these new features are available for Google AI Ultra and Google AI Pro subscribers in the U.S. only. 

Google is introducing a new AI Mode that merges Google Search with Gemini 2.5's AI capabilities, rolling out for everyone in the U.S. It will be able to perform multiple searches at once, and even be capable of live interactions and deep searches. This new AI Mode will even have agentic features to book a ticket for you, or purchase clothes when the price is right. 

Google has announced in Google I/O 2025 that Gemini Live Camera and Screen Sharing features will be expanding to all Android and iOS devices. The features will be available via the Gemini app starting today. Google demoed it during I/O where the narrator asked Gemini silly questions and was corrected for the same. Similarly, you could share your screen with Gemini, and it will answer all your questions, use on-device utilities like setting up a Calendar event, reminder, and more.

At Google I/O 2025, the company unveiled Google Beam, which will transform video calls into an immersive 3D experience. It will use state-of-the-art volumetric AI models and light field display to capture and merge the subject to show them in 3D. Google has partnered with HP to introduce the first Google Beam hardware, and it will be available by the end of this year. 

The Google I/O 2025 is scheduled for May 20 and 21. While it's too soon to know what Google might showcase, the firm's post says "you'll learn more about Google's new products, technologies, and innovations in AI, Android, and more". Google may reveal more about Android 16 and its features followed by improvements in Gemini, Wear OS, Android XR, and more.

Google has launched Project Gameface, a gaming accessibility tool, on Android. The tool, which is basically a novel cursor, came into being to allow quadriplegic users enjoy a hands-free Android experience. What started with Video Game Streamer, Lance Carr, has finally seen the light of day officially. Using head tracking and expressions through the device camera, the tool lets users control their Android device and play games on it.

During its I/O 2024 event, Google announced an upgrade to its SynthID AI watermarking system. Previously focused on images and audio, SynthID now tackles video and text formats as well. SynthID watermarks will appear on text generated through the Gemini mobile and web apps, as well as videos created by Veo.

Google Chrome is all set to soon get Gemini Nano built right into its desktop app. The AI model will be running on-device, bringing features like 'Help Me Write' to users. The feature will be available via an upcoming Chrome 126 version. It will be to Google Chrome what Copilot is to the Microsoft Edge app.

Google's Project Astra is a part of Google DeepMind, and it's the Digital Assistant we've all dreamt of. It can understand your surroundings, explain code, keep track of things it sees in the video, and solve complex problems by looking at them. Project Astra is still an experiment, and it's too soon to guess if Google will release it to the public.

Google announces Imagen 3, which is its latest AI text-to-image generator. The tool is an upgrade from the last gen Imagen 2, for Google calls it the highest quality text-to-image generation model till date. To put the latest model to use, you will need to head over to ImageFX in Google Labs and sign up for it. Developers and enterprise users will get access to it soon through Vertex AI.

Google has announced that it is bringing multimodal capabilities to Gemini Nano. With multimodal capabilities, Gemini Nano will be able to understand contextual information not only from text input but also from audio, images, and spoken language.

Google's AI overviews, previously known as SGE, are now available to all users in the US. This feature offers concise, AI-summarized answers and is designed to make searching faster and more efficient. It's available on web, Android, and iOS. Google also introduced multi-step reasoning, allowing for more complex questions and personalized results.

At the Google I/O 2024 event, the search giant added a new model to the Gemini family. The Gemini 1.5 Flash model is developed for high-frequency tasks that require minimum latency. It still brings multimodal capabilities and a context window of 1 million tokens.

Google has announced in Google I/O 2024 that the Google Photos app will get a new Ask Photos feature this Summer which will allow you to search for photos in a more personalized way.

Earlier today, Google rolled out its famed yearly puzzle to tease its I/O 2024 event. Within around 4 hours of the puzzle being out, it was cracked by the community and we got to know that the much-anticipated event has been scheduled for May 14, 2024. From the Pixel 8a to the Pixel Fold 2 and more on Android 15, there's a whole lot that is expected to be announced at the event.
