10 Best Apps Like Clubhouse for Android and iOS

Clubhouse has almost taken the tech world by storm and has amassed more than 10 million users in the last couple of months. It has introduced a new dimension of social media, and is one of those Facebook alternatives where you can interact with other users using your voice. While there’s nothing revolutionary about it, the approach makes it exciting. All audio conversations are public, and anyone can drop in and hear the conversation. Due to its unique approach, users are hopping on Clubhouse and looking for more apps like Clubhouse. Note that Clubhouse has finally launched on Android, but it’s still invite-only. So if you want to try out some great alternatives to Clubhouse for Android and iOS, read on.

Best Apps Like Clubhouse for Android and iOS (Updated June 2021)

Here, we have mentioned the top 10 apps like Clubhouse for Android and iOS platforms. You can take a quick glance at the list below and click on the link to move to the relevant app.

1. Twitter Spaces – Best Clubhouse Alternative

After the launch of Clubhouse, everyone seems to agree that Twitter should have been the trendsetter of this audio chat social network. Why? It’s because Clubhouse is built on the same principle as Twitter: almost everything is public. However, it took Clubhouse’s foray into the mainstream circle for Twitter to wake up from its slumber. Now, Twitter has launched Spaces which is like Clubhouse but integrated inside Twitter along with Fleets. Note that any Twitter user from India can host a Space, but globally, it’s available only to users with more than 600 followers.

You can start Twitter Spaces by tapping the “Compose” button on Twitter and then choosing Spaces. Keep in mind, Spaces, just like Clubhouse is public and anyone can join in and listen to your Spaces. However, you can choose who can speak in your Twitter Space: Everyone, People you follow, or Only people you invite to speak.

Besides that, currently, only 10 users can have the speaking privilege at a time. After you end your Space, nothing will be publicly available just like Clubhouse. There’s no audio recording feature at the moment. However, Twitter will retain a copy of Spaces for 30 days in case of any violation. One more point, protected accounts can’t create Spaces, but can join and listen to other conversations. If you want to learn how to use Twitter Spaces effectively, go through our linked guide.

2. Discord Stage Channels

If you use Discord only for chatting or talking to your friends while gaming, then you are missing out on a lot of fun. Discord has now brought an alternative to Clubhouse called Stage Channels. It is a new type of channel integrated into Discord, where you can invite users to have a public conversation, much like Clubhouse.

It also includes the same kind of controls that Clubhouse has. For listeners, there is the “raise hand” feature that sends a request to the moderator, and they can then choose to allow them to speak in Stage channels. Moderator also has a lot of controls, they can move a speaker to the audience group, remove anyone from the channel, and more.

What I love about Discord Stage Channels is that there are controls right on the main page and you can mute your mic, remove members, see who is speaking in a seamless manner. On Clubhouse, many users complain that they can’t find who is speaking and they have to scroll down to find the speakers. Now that’s cumbersome. So, make a switch and learn how to use Stage Channels on Discord using our detailed guide.

I would say, Discord Stage Channels is a great alternative to Clubhouse and you should use it to your advantage. I also love using Discord because it allows me to add extra features in Stage Channels by using useful Discord bots and music bots for Discord. If you don’t know how to add bots to your Discord server, follow our handy guide linked here.

3. Facebook Live Audio Rooms (Facebook Hotline)

We’ve previously reported that Facebook was developing Hotline, which was a mashup of Clubhouse and Instagram Live. Well, today the company has officially announced the launch of this feature, albeit under the name of Facebook Live Audio Rooms. So yeah, Facebook Live Audio Rooms is official. The concept is the same as Clubhouse — up to 50 people can speak on a topic at the same time. Plus, Facebook Live Rooms also lets hosts set up a fundraiser if they are trying to support a cause — something you can’t do on Clubhouse yet.

As of right now, Facebook Live Rooms is only available to select public figures and groups on Facebook for iOS in the US. The company hasn’t announced a timeline for the feature’s wider roll-out, but hopefully we’ll see that happen soon.

4. Telegram Voice Chat

Jumping on the bandwagon, Telegram has also introduced ‘Voice Chat’ to clone what Clubhouse does. It’s not a standalone app but merged within the Telegram app. The Voice Chat can only be enabled by a group admin or a channel owner. Basically, you need to create a group before you can start voice chat. Keep in mind, unlike Clubhouse, which is public and allows users to search for audio discussions, Telegram does not do that.

It’s only limited to the group or channel users. Of course, people can share the invite link or add anyone to a group to join the voice chat. In my brief usage, I found Voice Chats to be quite unintuitive, but it could get better with upcoming updates. You can follow our in-depth guide on how to use Telegram voice chats to understand the whole process.

To sum up, if you are yet to get access to Clubhouse on Android, Telegram Voice Chat is a decent alternative that you can try.

5. Reddit Talk

For those who use Reddit extensively, finding like-minded people through audio chat in a subreddit may be the best option and perhaps better than Clubhouse. Called Reddit Talk, this feature only allows moderators to host a talk at the moment. The company has hinted that it’s testing the feature and may roll out Reddit Talk to a larger audience.

4. Reddit Talk

Similar to Clubhouse, Reddit Talk allows subreddit moderators to start a public audio conversation. Anyone can join the talk and also request to speak. The UI is also similar to Clubhouse, which I quite like. All in all, if you are a Reddit user, Reddit Talk is a great app with an audio social network like Clubhouse.

6. Fireside – Made in India App like Clubhouse

If you are looking for a Made-in-India Clubhouse alternative, Fireside is a worthy pick. It has been developed by the same team that built Chingari, which is a TikTok alternative for Indian users. Talking about Fireside, it looks strikingly similar to Clubhouse and also operates as such. I must say the UI is slick. It has three sections to explore active chat rooms, find Covid help and resources, and search for communities, respectively.

5. Fireside clubhouse alternative

As usual, all audio chats are public, so anyone can join and listen to the conversations. You also get all kinds of control that you expect in an audio-based social media app. Currently, Fireside supports English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. So if you want to try out an India-made Clubhouse clone, Fireside is pretty good.

7. Leher

Leher is an Indian app aimed to bring a similar experience like Clubhouse and it has been available on the Play Store since 2018. The app likes to call itself “Live Discussion Clubs on Audio and Video”. While Clubhouse only has an audio-only chat option, Leher has support for both audio and video chat. And similar to Clubhouse, you have a discoverable feed where you can join clubs and hear the conversation.

You can also search for your favorite topic, users, and trends. The best part about Leher is that it’s available to everyone, unlike Clubhouse which is currently invite-only. In addition, Leher has apps for both Android and iOS so that is great. Apart from that, you can start your own club and create a space for like-minded people who share common interests and ideas. I think Leher is a promising app like Clubhouse in India and you should surely check it out.

8. Riff‪r‬

If you are unaware, Clubhouse is also considered a micro-podcasting platform rather than a new social media for audio-only chats. And in this micro-podcast segment, Riffr has been doing well for the past few months. Just like Clubhouse, your audio conversations (called riff) are public here and they’re more conversational. Your followers can respond to your riffs and you can do the same as well.

You can also search for topics, things you like and find micro-podcasts of your taste. What I like about Riffr is that it has a sharing feature that allows you to convert your audio riff to video so that you can post your micro-podcasts to other social media platforms easily. I think, in a strict sense, Riffr is not very similar to Clubhouse, but it does add a new dimension to the audio-only social media trend. You should definitely check it out. Obviously, if you are a hardcore Podcast fan, you should check out some of the best podcast apps for iPhone instead.

9. Spoon

Spoon seems like a proper alternative to Clubhouse since it brings a public platform that is searchable and where anyone can drop in and listen to live conversations. According to Spoon, its audio platform has already been used by 30 million users, which is quite an impressive feat. You can start your own audio live streams or start a music room or kick off a traditional podcast session with your friends.

And unlike Clubhouse, Spoon is actually monetizable by creators. So you know, if you’ve ever wanted an audio-only YouTube alternative, it seems Spoon is like the YouTube of audio-chat social media. Besides that, you can browse and explore trending conversations around music, daily life, games, comedy, and more. All in all, if you want to get into the audio-chat hype train just like Clubhouse then Spoon seems to be a good start.

Along the same lines, Spotify is also building a Clubhouse alternative. It recently acquired Locker Rooms, and the company says it will revamp the app to bring a better live audio experience.
