In a post on Weibo, Instant Digital mentioned that several sources have confirmed that Apple will change the back design of the iPhone 17 Pro models, but the rear camera will still have a triangular lens arrangement, rather than the horizontal bar design.

Expected to arrive in September 2025, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the iPhone Plus model. At a mere 5mm to 6.25mm thin, the iPhone 17 Air would be the slimmest-ever iPhone, beating the decade-old iPhone 6 with a 6.9mm frame. Also, the iPhone 17 Air would be cheaper than the Pro models.

According to The Information, Apple's manufacturing partner Foxconn has started conducting early development of the base iPhone 17 at a factory in Bengaluru, India. This is a new milestone in Apple's manufacturing efforts in India, which can help reduce the company's dependence on China in the long run.

According to a leak, Apple is testing its iPhone 17 Pro with a new button that replaces the existing Volume keys and Action Button. The rumored Action-Volume Button might be something similar to the Camera Control button on the new iPhone 16 series. Users might be able to adjust the volume with a swipe and trigger customizable shortcuts with presses.

According to Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, next year's iPhone 17 Pro Max will mark its entry with an upgraded 48-megapixel Tetraprism camera for zoom functionality. He mentioned that the key specification change would be a 1/2.6" 48MP CIS sensor, up from the 1/3.1" 12MP sensor, which is likely to be used in 2024 iPhone 16 Pro models. The enhanced Tetraprism camera needs newly designed prisms with a shorter form factor to decrease the camera’s height.

According to a latest report by The Information, one model of the iPhone 17 series will have a significantly thinner design along with cameras in the top center on the back. Also, the model will have a thinner Dynamic Island, a carry an expensive price tag than the current iPhone 15 Pro Max.

As per a report by a Weibo account, Apple is planning to copy Samsung S24 Ultra's most coveted feature - anti-glare and scratch-resistant display. Apple has recently handed over the new display technology, which indicates that it might appear in iPhone 17 and might not be ready in time for iPhone 16 series.

Apple is expected to bring ProMotion Always-on Display technology across its entire iPhone lineup with the iPhone 17 series. Next year, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus will feature OLED displays with the LTPO technology, which makes them the first-ever standard iPhone models to get ProMotion displays. The iPhone 17 and 17 Plus might also feature a taller aspect ratio of 19.6:9, which is currently teased for the iPhone 16 Pro models.

In a latest research note published by Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is planning to upgrade the front camera of iPhone 17 to 24MP from the current 12MP camera. This will be accompanied by a 6P lens which will deliver sharper pictures with more details. It is unclear whether 24MP front camera will be exclusive to Pro models as of now.
