- GTA 6 is all set to release on November 19, 2026.
- The title will only be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
- The game will feature two playable protagonists in Jason and Lucia.
After over a decade of intense anticipation, made worse by two delays, GTA 6 is finally set to release in 2026. The upcoming entry in the best-selling open-world franchise has stirred up a hype cycle like no other, leaving fans anxious for the smallest crumbs of new information. To help keep you in the loop about all things GTA 6, including its release date, price, gameplay, platforms, and more, we’ve put together this comprehensive guide.
GTA 6 Release Date
Barring any new delays, GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026. This date was revealed in November 2025, via a statement shared on Rockstar’s social media accounts. The statement doubled as a delay, as the title was pushed back by six months from its initial May 2026 release window.
Rockstar justified the delay by stating the need for “polish” to ensure a smooth gameplay experience on day one. Unfortunately, there’s been no shortage of doubts cast on the latest release date, some of which have been levied by reputed insiders. Fans will find some solace in these comments from Take-Two Strauss Zelnick, who has expressed confidence in a November 2026 release:
“We feel really good about this release date. It’s in the same fiscal year, it happens to be a great release window, and naturally, we’re really supportive of Rockstar’s approach.”
We’ll be sure to update this section if any new information emerges.
Will GTA 6 Be Delayed Further?
There’s honestly no way to determine if GTA 6 will be delayed further. With Rockstar remaining tight-lipped about development, all we have to go off on are leaks and reports from known insiders – and these sources paint a complicated picture.
For instance, during an episode of the Insider Gaming Podcast, Tom Henderson revealed that the game is “content-complete” and well on track to release in 2026. However, just two weeks later, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier played down that notion, saying, “The last I heard, it was still not content complete. That is to say, people were still finishing things up, still finalizing levels, and missions, and seeing what is going to make it into the game.”
For what it’s worth, Henderson recently doubled down on his initial reporting and reaffirmed his confidence in a 2026 release. Even Schreier stated that November 2026 feels more realistic than any of the previous release windows. At the end of the day, there’s still a lack of conclusive information pointing towards a delay. So, for the time being, it’s safe to expect that GTA 6 will indeed release on November 19 of this year.
GTA 6 Speculated Price
GTA 6’s base price is yet to be officially confirmed, but based on all the information we’ve assessed so far, an $80 price tag seems the most likely.
AAA publishers are slowly adopting the $80 base pricing for their biggest releases – a trend kick-started by Nintendo with Mario Kart: World. Microsoft attempted to follow suit by announcing a similar price for The Outer Worlds 2, but the pushback to this move was so severe that the publisher had to reinstate the standard $70 price point. Fans have vehemently opposed unnecessary pricing hikes such as these, although you get the sense that an industry-wide shift is inevitable.
In the case of GTA 6, due to the game’s extravagant budget and marketing, the community still suspects that the title’s price of admission could rise to $100. Fortunately, this almost certainly won’t be the case, as Rockstar would be mindful of the controversy such a price tag could spark. The game already faces a mountain of expectations that would only quadruple in size if it’s priced like a gram of Gold. As such, the studio wouldn’t be keen on stacking the odds even further against its latest release.
Given the unprecedented scale and scope of Rockstar’s games, $80 feels like a fair price, and one that most fans would feel is reasonable. Even Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson predicted a similar base price, adding further credibility to our own prediction.
GTA 6 Speculated Budget
While Rockstar hasn’t officially revealed the GTA 6 budget, the game’s cost is likely above the $1 billion mark. That is, of course, an astronomical figure which will set a new record for the industry, but all signs point towards it being legitimate.
The most pressing evidence for this budget comes from a Reddit post, which saw a fan dig deep into Take-Two’s balance sheets. After analyzing various costs and making some standard assumptions, the poster concluded that the game’s cost has already flown past $1 billion and could touch $2 billion once the marketing cycle kicks into effect.
As insane as those numbers sound, GTA 6 is well-poised to recoup that investment in a matter of days. This is according to a forecast from Konvoy Ventures, which estimates that the title will rake in around $6.8 billion in revenue within 60 days of its launch. Even if it fails to live up to these predictions, the game will almost certainly become one of the highest-selling products in the history of entertainment, justifying Take-Two’s exorbitant investment in the process.
GTA 6 Trailers and Trailer 3 Prediction
GTA 6 has received two trailers thus far, with a difference of 17 months between their release dates. Its first trailer was released back on December 5, 2o23, giving fans a glimpse at modern-day Vice City and introducing them to the game’s protagonists Lucia and Jason. Within the first 24 hours of its arrival, the video pulled in around 90 million views on YouTube, setting a new record for the most-viewed non-music video on the platform.
The second GTA 6 trailer was just as seismic in terms of impact. Released on May 6, 2026, it showcased the chemistry between the game’s protagonists while also shining a light on the many side characters fans will meet in Leonida. More notably, the video was accompanied by an extensive info dump on Rockstar’s official website, which is still the best source of official information to this day.
]Little is known about GTA 6 trailer 3, although it will likely be released in either Q1 or Q2 2026. This is a calculated estimate based on the promotional cycle of Rockstar’s last two releases, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, as both titles received their third trailers during the six months leading up to their release. In terms of content, the trailer will likely give us a proper look at the gameplay.
GTA 6 Pre-Order Details
GTA 6 pre-orders will likely kick off after the third trailer’s arrival, especially if our prediction about its release date proves right. With just six months to go until launch, it would make perfect sense for Rockstar to make the game available for pre-order and give fans a chance to secure their copies.
Back in October 2025, it seemed like the announcement of pre-orders was imminent after a mysterious PlayStation store update added the option to select editions on the GTA 6 page. Unfortunately, this was simply a general store-wide update and had nothing to do with the game specifically.
GTA 6 Confirmed Supported Platforms
On day one, GTA 6 will only be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Just as it did with Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has opted to prioritize a console release before eventually releasing the game on PC at some point in the future. It’s unclear how long the PC port will take, but based on the studio’s release cadence, fans will have to wait for at least a year to enjoy the game on their desktops.
With PlayStation owning an overwhelming majority of the console install base, most of GTA 6’s initial sales will be on the PS5. As a result, the game can be interpreted as a “PlayStation exclusive,” and there are even rumors of a supposed marketing deal between Sony and Rockstar. If this rumor is to be believed, the title could deliver 60 FPS gameplay on the more powerful PS5 Pro console.
Who Are the Confirmed Characters?
Thanks to the information dump we mentioned earlier, many of GTA 6’s characters have already been revealed. The game’s cast includes:
- Lucia Caminos: Born and raised in Liberty City, Lucia is one of two playable characters in GTA 6. A hardened fighter, she’s chasing the good life in Vice City that her mom always dreamed about, and working with Jason could be her only way to accomplish that.
- Jason Duval: The second playable protagonist, Jason, grew up around grifters and crooks, but eventually joined the army in an attempt to set things straight. He eventually ended up in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners before meeting Lucia. Not long after their union, the pair began staging the heists and robberies that we witness in the trailers.
- Cal Hampton: A homebody who has a taste for alcohol and the internet, Cal is a friend of Jason’s and will likely assist him in his criminal endeavours.
- Brian Heder: Brian is a veteran drug runner operating out of the Keys with deep knowledge of Vice City’s criminal logistics. He supplies Jason with work and even lets him live rent‑free at one of his properties. Brian will likely be one of the first mission-giving NPCs in the game.
- Boobie Ike: A well‑known figure in Vice City, Boobie Ike is a street legend who turned local notoriety into a business empire spanning nightclubs, real estate, and a recording studio.
- Dre’Quan Priest: Dre’Quan is a music promoter who books acts for Boobie’s nightclub. He’s always held ambitions of going legit in the music industry, and is one step closer to doing precisely that after signing the Real Dimez, a rap duo made up of Bae-Luxe and Roxy.
- Raul Bautista: A seasoned bank robber known for his charisma and high‑stakes ambitions. Raul pushes his associates into riskier heists and schemes. We’ll likely see Lucia and Jason team up with the veteran for a reckless heist.
Story / Plotline Rumors: Is It Anything New?
Both GTA 6 trailers have made it abundantly clear that Lucia and Jason share a Bonnie and Clyde-esque dynamic. The duo can be seen holding up a convenience store, threatening security guards at gunpoint, and even emphatically leaping off cars. Their story will revolve around this dynamic, and the notion of ‘trust’ teased at the end of the first trailer. It’ll be interesting to see just how long this trust persists over the course of the game’s narrative.
In terms of rumors, the most convincing leak surrounding the story dates back to October 2023. It suggested that Lucia, the game’s female protagonist, has a baby that she abandons at a delicatessen before participating in a bank robbery. Things go sideways, and Lucia is arrested while the fate of the baby is unknown. A few years later, she’s released on probation and reunites with Jason (as seen in Trailer 2), and it’s while planning another heist that our main characters begin to fall for each other.
GTA 6 Map Leaks
GTA 6 is set in the sprawling state of Leonida, which is obviously inspired by Florida. At the heart of the game is Vice City, the neon-lit oasis of glitz, glamour, and crime. Surrounding it are the industrial Ambrosia in the north and the swamp-like Grassrivers in the south. Flanking the primordial swamp is what appears to be the game’s starting location: the Leonida Keys. Then, on the western end of the gigantic map, you’ve got the coast of Port Gellhorn, and further north sits the monolithic Mount Kalaga.
As seen in the images above, all of these major locations look visually distinct and exude drastically different vibes. This gives us an idea of how varied the GTA 6 map is, and according to estimates, it is also around 70% bigger than GTA 5’s San Andreas. Iconic GTA: Vice City locations, such as the Malibu Club and the Ocean View Hotel, are confirmed to return, and we can also expect to see other landmarks, including Little Haiti and Starfish Island.
Open World Map Leaks
According to leaks, GTA 6’s map will feature over 700 buildings with accessible interiors. In fact, players will reportedly be able to enter most of the structures they come across, including malls and shopping centres with multiple floors. On top of this, Rockstar is also said to be leaning into underwater exploration, as these areas will hide secrets for players to discover.
On the debunked rumors front, multiple sources have stated that the game will not feature a massive amusement park. Speculation around this Disney-world-inspired location was sparked after some concept art emerged online. However, the art and its accompanying rumor were quickly revealed to be an elaborate hoax and have since been disregarded.
Expected Gameplay and Graphics Changes
As far as official information is concerned, next to nothing has been revealed about GTA 6’s gameplay. Rockstar claims that trailer two showcased the game in action, but even still, it confirmed no new features or hinted at any interesting evolutions. What we can say for sure is that the title looks spectacular visually, especially when it comes to character models, facial animations, and the evocative lighting.
Trailer one, in particular, was the most interesting from a graphical perspective. It did an excellent job of displaying the NPC variety that fans can expect, as we saw a wide range of body types, skin tones, and facial features. It also depicted a densely populated beach, which could potentially hint at an engine upgrade allowing more NPCs in a single scene than ever before.
In terms of gameplay changes, here’s what we expect to see in GTA 6:
Character Switching
A character switching wheel akin to GTA 5 is all but confirmed due to the presence of two playable protagonists. However, leaks suggest that Rockstar is taking things one step further by allowing players to control both characters simultaneously. This option will reportedly be available during open-world exploration as well as during specific missions. It’s hard to imagine how such a feature would work without the presence of co-op, but if there’s one studio that can pull it off, it’s Rockstar.
Red Dead Redemption-Inspired Changes
Regarding gameplay changes, the developers are reportedly drawing inspiration from their previous release, Red Dead Redemption 2. In particular, Jason is said to have a Dead Eye-like ability, allowing him to slow down time and target enemy weak spots. Moreover, the Greet and Antagonize mechanic from RDR2 is also supposedly being carried over, and if true, it would significantly increase the range of character interactions players can have in GTA 6.
Other, more realistic mechanics, such as stowing weapons and dismemberment, could also be making the jump. Although it’s unclear how they’d fit in the more arcade-style gameplay format of Grand Theft Auto.
Expanded Police
One GTA 6 gameplay change that looks increasingly likely is the return of the six-star wanted level. Numerous leaks have pointed to its return, although there is no information on how this escalation will be depicted in the game. If we had to guess, Rockstar could put different agencies on your tail once you hit this level of notoriety, an example being NOOSE from GTA 4.
Police AI in general will almost certainly see an advancement, as it has in nearly every new entry in the franchise. We got a glimpse at these upgrades in a now-deleted video from the September 2022 leaks. It featured a sequence involving a police officer and Lucia, where the former maintained a safe distance before switching cover and carefully creeping closer to the character. The AI exhibited some solid awareness and will likely be much smarter in the upcoming title.
GTA 6 Latest Leaks
In truth, GTA 6 leaks are dime a dozen these days. There’s a new gameplay leak doing the rounds on X all the time, typically revealed by ‘insider’ accounts devoid of any credibility. Most new leaks also tend to regurgitate old information, except with some fresh buzzwords thrown into the mix. As such, we highly recommend taking these reports with a grain of salt. But if you’d like to assess them yourself, you’ll find all the latest GTA 6 leaks down below:
Rockstar Reportedly Spending $300 on GTA 6’s Water Physics
According to information from ‘VGT Gaming News’ on X, GTA 6 will reportedly feature the most realistic water physics in gaming history. To achieve this goal, Rockstar is said to have assembled a team of 20 top engineers exclusively dedicated to water physics modeling. The publisher is bankrolling these efforts with a budget in the $200m-$300m range. For context, the entirety of GTA 5 cost $265 million to develop.
GTA 6’s Main Story Could Be 75 Hours Long
According to an unnamed leaker, GTA 6’s single-player story will have an estimated runtime of 75 hours. In addition to this, the game’s narrative will be split into five different chapters, including a prologue that will account for two hours of gameplay by itself. And here’s the kicker: The title’s ending will supposedly take players outside the US as part of a sequence that has received a lot of attention during development.
Leaked GTA 6 Website Names
A reputed insider came across some strange domains listed under Take-Two’s name back in May 2025. An initial glance at these domain names made it immediately clear that they’re linked to GTA 6, as they showcase the franchise’s signature wit. The listed domains included obvious real-world parodies such as “what-up,” “rydeme,” and “buckme,” to name a few.
And that covers everything you need to know about GTA 6. We’ll regularly update this guide with all the latest information, so be sure to check back in the future.
