Total Number of Pokemon in 2025
As of early 2025, there are exactly 1,025 unique Pokemon in the Pokedex. However, this number only tells part of the story. When you include all the different forms and variations, the total becomes much larger.
There are 59 regional variants (like Alolan Raichu or Galarian Ponyta), 48 Mega Evolutions (such as Mega Charizard), and 32 Gigantamax forms. Adding all these special forms brings the total to an impressive 1,164 different Pokemon!
This number is expected to expand further with the release of Pokemon Legends ZA later in 2025, which will introduce even more creatures to catch and train.

Generation 1 (151 Pokemon)
The generation that started it all in 1996 introduced iconic creatures like Pikachu, Charizard, and Mewtwo.
