Pokemon GO Types Explained

A Bulbasaur will struggle fighting a Charmander, thanks to its weakness type in Pokemon GO
A Bulbasaur will struggle to fight a Charmander, thanks to its weakness type in Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO and Pokemon games, every Pokemon belongs to an element type. These element types determine their strengths and weaknesses against other Pokemon belonging to a particular element type in Pokemon GO. So, for example, a Charmander will be strong against a Bulbasaur but weak against a Squirtle.

Think of it like a Rock-Paper-Scissor game, where Rock defeats Scissors, Scissor defeats Paper, and Paper defeats Rock. In Pokemon GO, all 18 elements have a strength and weakness attached to them. So, when you fight a Pokemon, you have to take into account which element that Pokemon belongs to and whether they’ll fare well against their opponent’s elements.

Pokemon GO Type Effectiveness Multiplier

In the Pokemon GO games, another little thing plays a vital role during fights aside from the various weakness type. Type Effectiveness ensures how effective your Pokemon’s elements are against other elements.

Some elements will be super effective against two types of elements, doubling the damage. Similarly, other elements won’t be effective towards another element, dropping the damage. The various Pokemon GO multipliers are:

  • Double Effective: 2.56x damage.
  • Super Effective: 1.6x damage.
  • Neutral: 1.0x damage.
  • Ineffective: 0.625x damage.
  • Immune: 0.39x damage.

So, when fighting a Pokemon, you have to ensure your Pokemon can take advantage of the effectiveness and deal more damage to your opponents. That way, you can win most fights available out there.

And that’s the entire Pokemon GO type chart with all their weaknesses and effectiveness. I hope this chart helps you fight your opponents and win as many fights as possible. So what Pokemon type are you going to be using? Let us know in the comments below!
