Honkai Star Rail has two core systems that dictate the playable character’s role and playstyle. These two systems are Elements and Paths. Unlike Elements, the Paths are a bit hard to understand as it has a deep connection to Star Rail’s world-building. There are a total of eighteen paths in Honkai Star Rail, each having a different set of rules and regulations. Here is a detailed guide that explains what Paths are in Honkai Star Rail, while also listing their characteristics.
What Are Paths in Honkai Star Rail?

Paths are congregations of imaginary energy, born from behavioral concepts. Once a Denizen in Honkai Star Rail aligns itself with a path’s philosophies and opinions, it can draw power from them. These people are called Pathstriders.
Pathstriders that fully intertwine themselves with the philosophical concepts of their chosen path become Aeons. They are God-like beings that dictate everything that happens in the universe.
The Aeons may grant permissions to specific individuals for drawing power directly from their path itself. They are the closest followers of the Path’s philosophies after the Aeons themselves, either intentionally or unintentionally. The Pathstriders who are granted such permissions are called Emanators, and they are the second strongest beings in the Star Rail verse.
