Honkai Star Rail Boothill Kit and Best Cycle Rotation

Boothill’s kit is very Break Effect damage focused, and alongside Ruan Mei, he can destroy any elite enemy in the game with his best build. His kit also allows him to apply Physical weakness on enemies, making him a good pick against all types of enemies. Here is everything we know about his kit and how to optimally play Boothill’s best build in Honkai Star Rail.

  • Skullcrush Spurs (Basic Attack): Deals Physical damage equal to 100% of Boothill’s attack to a single enemy.
  • Fanning the Hammer (Enhanced Basic Attack): Deals Physical damage equal to 220% of Boothill’s Attack to a single enemy. Cannot recover Skill Point and can only target the enemy in Standoff.
  • Sizzlin’ Tango (Skill): Forces targeted enemy and Boothill in a Standoff state for 2 turns, the duration reducing at the start of Boothill’s every turn. Boothill’s Basic attack changes to the Enhanced Basic Attack in this state and the enemy target in the Standoff becomes Taunted. When the targeted enemy/Boothill gets attacked by other parties during the Standoff, the damage they receive increases by 30%/15%. After the target in Standoff is defeated or Weakness Broken, Boothill gains 1 stack of Pocket Trickshot and dispels the Standoff. This Skill cannot regenerate energy and Boothill’s turn doesn’t end after using his Skill.
  • Dust Devil’s Sunset Rodeo (Ultimate): Applies Physical Weakness to a single enemy of choice, deals Physical damage equal to 400% of Boothill’s Attack to the targeted enemy and delays their action by 45%.

  • Five Peas in a Pod (Talent): Each stack of Pocket Trickshot increases the Enhanced Basic Attack’s toughness Reduction by 50% (max 3 stacks). Weakness-breaking targets with the enhanced basic attack, deal increased break damage equal to 70%/120%/170% of Boothill’s Physical Break damage, based on the number of Pocket Trickshot stacks. The max Toughness taken into account for this Damage cannot exceed 16 times the base Toughness Reduction of the Basic Attack “Skullcrush Spurs.” Boothill retains the number of Pocket Trickshot stacks after winning the battle.
  • 3-9x Smile (Technique): After using the Technique, the first time Boothill uses his Skill in the battle on a target, he applies Physical weakness on the target for 2 turns, similar to his Ultimate.

Boothill’s kit is mainly focused on the Break Effect damage he deals with while weakness breaking enemies. His Skill allows him to go on a standoff against an enemy, making enemies other than the one in Standoff, take more damage when they attack him. His Skill also unlocks his enhanced Basic Attack, which is his main source of damage in the game.

As Boothill continues to defeat or weakness-break enemies in Standoff, his Break Effect damage and weakness-breaking efficiency both increase, stacking up to three times. His Ultimate also does a good amount of single target Physical damage on enemies and also applies Physical weakness. This makes it easier to break enemy weaknesses with Boothill, as he is no longer tied to Physical weakness enemies.

  • 4-piece Champion of Streetwise Boxing
  • 4-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor
  • 2-piece Champion of Streetwise Boxing and 2-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor

The 4-piece Champion of Streetwise Boxing set is currently the best relic set for Boothill as it increases his Physical damage by 10% and increases his attack up to 25%. Other than that, the 4-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor can also be a good choice for Boothill. This may appear as an odd pick for DPS characters, however, the 32% Break Effect increase is going to be very effective on Boothill.

Other than that, you can also go for a 2-piece Champion of Streetwise Boxing and a 2-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor, to get 10% Physical damage and a 16% Break Effect boost.

Best Planar Ornaments for Boothill in HSR

  • 2-piece Firmament Frontline: Glamoth
  • 2-piece Rutilant Arena
  • 2-piece Talia: Kingdom of Banditry

The 2-piece Firmament Frontline: Glamoth is the perfect Planar Ornament set for Boothill, as it increases his Attack by 12% and his damage by 12%/18% when he meets the Speed threshold of 135/160. As Boothill is going to need a high speed anyway, this set can get the best out of his kit.

The 2-piece Rutilant Arena is also a solid pick for Boothill as it increases his Crit Rate and Basic Attack Damage. Other than that, you can also use the 2-piece Talia: Kingdom of Banditry to get another 36% Break Effect increase for Boothill’s best build.

Boothill’s Ascension 2 ability allows him to get a boost of 30%/150% Crit Rate/Crit Damage from his Break Effect, making Break Effect % a more viable stat than Crit stat for him. So, make sure to stack Attack %, Break Effect %, and Speed on Boothill as much as you can.

Try to hit the 160 Speed threshold of Firmament Frontline: Glamoth, which will also allow him to take two turns in the first two turn cycles by breaking the Speed Breakpoint. Other than that, use a Physical Damage Boost Planar Sphere and a Break Effect % Link Rope.

  • Dusty Trail’s Lone Star (E1): Boothill obtains 1 stack of Pocket Trickshot when the battle starts, and he ignores 16% of the enemy target’s Defense when dealing damage.
  • Milestonemonger (E2): Recovers 1 Skill Point and increases Break Effect by 30% for 2 turns when in Standoff and gaining Pocket Trickshot. This effect is also triggered when gaining Pocket Trickshot stacks that exceed the maximum limit. It cannot trigger repeatedly within one turn.

Boothill’s Eidolons are decently strong and can be worth getting if you want to invest in him. However, his Eidolons don’t really make that big of a difference to Boothill’s best build, and I would recommend you save your Stellar Jades on him.

When it comes to Boothill’s best team comps, Ruan Mei becomes an absolute necessity to get the best out of his kit. Ruan Mei increases break effect damage to another degree, allowing Boothill to do extremely high damage. Other than that, you can pair Boothill with Bronya, who will allow him to take more turns in every turn cycle. Boothill’s best team composition will feature Ruan Mei, Bronya, and any sustain that can keep him alive, like Fu Xuan.

You can also use Robin or Sparkle, instead of Bronya, to action forward Boothill’s attack. Robin can do a lot more damage against physical weakness enemies, making her a good pair for Boothill, even though he has no follow-up attacks.

Should You Pull for Boothill in Honkai Star Rail?

Boothill is a strong character, but he is getting released right before Firefly, and Firefly’s leaked kit is setting her to be the strongest DPS character in the game so far. I would recommend you save your Stellar Jades for Firefly instead of spending it on Boothill if you want a DPS character.

However, if you really like Boothill’s aesthetic and don’t care much about Firefly, he is a strong DPS character and can be very strong with his best build. Share your thoughts on Boothill in the comment section and let us know if you are going to pull for him or not.
