It’s been a great day for Phantom Blade Zero fans as S-Game has opened pre-orders for the game and also shared an 11-minute trailer online. The pre-order release was shortly followed by an announcement by PlayStation and S-Game, who confirmed a dedicated State of Play episode for Phantom Blade Zero will air on August 17, 2026, at 7 PM PT.
PlayStation has confirmed on a dedicated Phantom Blade Zero blog that the special State of Play episode will feature a 20-minute gameplay deep dive ahead of its October 29, 2026, release. The broadcast, airing on both YouTube and Twitch, will include new characters central to Phantom Blade Zero’s plot, as well as skill expression through various player-curated builds.
Phantom Blade Zero’s pre-order trailer gave players a new look at combat on a speeding wagon. It also revealed martial arts movie star Donnie Yen as the facial and motion-capture performer for Mo Yuan, one of the game’s characters. Furthermore, S-Game announced that Yen has worked as a Creative Consultant for the game since 2023.
Pre-orders for Phantom Blade Zero are now live on the PlayStation Store, Steam, and Epic Games, ahead of the August 17 State of Play. Luckily, the Standard Edition costs $59.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $69.99. PlayStation has also announced that players who pre-order the game will unlock the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit early.
On the other hand, the Deluxe Edition includes a few extra goodies, such as two exclusive outfits, a digital artbook, and the digital soundtrack. For now, Phantom Blade Zero remains a timed exclusive for PlayStation 5 consoles and PC for at least 12 months, leaving the door open for an Xbox Series X|S release next year.
A PlayStation 5 physical disc hasn’t been confirmed yet, but so far, the game looks stunning in both visuals and gameplay. It might even hold its own, despite releasing less than a month before GTA 6 on October 29, 2026.
