In Short
  • Marvel's Wolverine reportedly features a rage mode that turns the player's screen red.
  • Logan will have three rage tiers, each unlocking new abilities as he builds up the rage meter.
  • The final rage tier allows Logan to jump from one enemy to another and finish them off instantly in a single slash.

Marvel’s Wolverine’s hands-on previews are just a day away, but new gameplay details have already surfaced through a now-deleted Eurogamer post. As per the report, Marvel’s Wolverine will feature three brutal rage modes, called ‘rage tiers,’ that allow Logan to brutalize and hack enemies apart, with one turning the screen red.

Marvel’s Wolverine’s Rage System Turns the Screen Red When Logan Unleashes His Fury

Reddit user Kekankok shared Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay leaks on the r/GameplayLeaksandRumors subreddit earlier today, allowing fans to sink their claws into the meaty information.

According to Eurogamer, Logan can build his rage meter through aggressive combat, as revealed through Wolverine PS5’s ESRB rating. The first rage tier allows Logan to be more violent with his combos.

On the other hand, the second tier unlocks access to Wolverine’s ‘last stand’ ability, allowing him to recover from a fatal blow. Players can notice this move in Marvel’s Wolverine extended gameplay trailer, which debuted at the June 2026 State of Play.

The final rage tier switches Logan’s vision to a “mixture of grayscale and bright red blood splatters”, unlocking the ability to jump between enemies and perform finishers instantly. Logan’s combat then becomes more about eliminating foes as quickly as possible, rather than severing them to build up his rage meter.

The extended Wolverine gameplay trailer also showcased the third rage mode tier, with Logan going feral after landing a Critical Strike with Jean Grey.

In addition to this, Marvel’s Wolverine will feature “inhibitor machines” that weaken Logan’s healing abilities, forcing players to manage their rage modes until they destroy the machines.

However, the most jaw-dropping part of Eurogamer’s now-deleted preview of Marvel’s Wolverine is the builds. In an interview with Insomniac’s senior project director, Reiner Reed, it was revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine will feature a progression system designed to support different playstyles.

For example, if a player enjoys rage tier three, they can change their build to reach that stage quicker using the ‘Adaptations Tree’. Reed explains that Adaptations are basically passive buffs that enhance Logan’s abilities.

Since Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t open-world like Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, it makes sense that the studio is going all out with Logan’s combat, adding three rage mode tiers to help him express his brutality against the Reavers, The Hand, and Bolivar Trask’s goons.
