In this guide, let’s go through all the possible ways and edge cases you may encounter when deleting a page in Google Docs.
How to Delete a Page in Google Docs App (Android and iPhone)
The process of deleting a page on the Google Docs app is similar on both the Android (website) and iPhone (website) apps. It’s not as easy as deleting pages on Google Docs web, but it’s still there nonetheless.
Method 1: Delete a Page Using Google Docs Pages View
Since documents on the Google Docs app don’t have a page view by default, users need to first switch to the page view to see which content falls on which page and then proceed to delete pages.
- Launch the Google Docs app on your phone and open a document.
- Tap on the pencil icon to start editing it, and tap on the 3-dots icon at the top right.
- From the overflow menu, turn on the Print layout toggle and then go to Page setup.

- Once in the Page setup, disable the Pageless option. Then go back to the previous screen.
- If the contents are too zoomed in, pinch to zoom out using two fingers. You should now see visible borders where each page ends.
- Select the content you want to remove to delete the page. You can do this by double-tapping to highlight text and dragging the marker to select all the content on a page.
- Once selected, tap on the Backspace key on your keyboard, and you will get rid of that page.

Method 2: Delete a Google Docs Page Using Page Breaks
There could be many page breaks in your document, causing it to spread out to more pages than expected. However, it’s pretty easy to delete them on the Google Docs app.
- Launch Google Docs and open the document you want to delete the pages in.
- Switch to the pages view from the 3-dots icon > Page setup > turn off the Pageless toggle and enable Print layout.
- A page break is an unnecessary space between two pages. If you see, one tap to put the cursor at the beginning of the content on the next page.
- Now, tap backspace to push the contents of the next page above. Do this to the entire document.

How to Delete a Page in Google Docs Website
Deleting pages on Google Docs web is much easier than the app. Here’s how to do it
Method 1: Delete a Google Docs Page Using the Delete Key
If you have content that’s taking up too much, and you no longer need it, you can simply yank it out. Here’s how:
- Go to Google Docs (website) and into the document you want to edit.
- Select the content you want to remove to delete the page.
- Use the Backspace or Delete keys to delete the content and the page.

Method 2: Using Custom Spacing in Google Docs
If your content just exceeds the page limit and a part of it appears on the next page, you can adjust the spacing between the lines to bring it to the same page and delete the extra page. Here’s how:
- Head to Google Docs, and open the document you want to edit.
- Select the paragraph you want to adjust the spacing of.
- In the toolbar, click on Format tab > Line & paragraph spacing > Custom spacing.

- Adjust the Line spacing number and set it to a number that would bring the part of the paragraph to another page on the same page. As you can see in this example, adding the value 0.99 worked.
- Now, click on Apply. This method will involve some trial and error before you achieve good enough formatting.

Method 3: By Adjusting Margins in Google Docs
Adjusting margins could help accommodate space for more content per page, thereby allowing you to delete pages in Google Docs. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the document in Google Docs and go to File > Page setup.

- Inside the Page setup box, adjust the values for left, right, top, and bottom margins to fit in more content.
- Once done, click on OK.
- Now that you can fit more content on one page, all the extra pages will be deleted.
