Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 Is Here: Here’s What’s New

After the Fortnite community contributed to opening Pandora’s Box, the lid has finally been taken off. Fortnite has finally released a launch trailer for Chapter 5 Season 2. This confirms a lot of content that was rumored earlier. So, without wasting any time, let’s dive into everything we are getting in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2: Myths and Mortals.

Locations of the Legends: New POI

According to the official Fortnite patch notes, the battle royale map will have four new locations. These maps will be right from the history books of immortals. Here are the locations you will see in Chapter 5 Season 2:

• Mount Olympus: On the slopes of Mount Olympus, even the mountain itself seems to watch your every move. The legendary home of Zeus becomes a constant reminder of the gods’ presence in Fortnite.
• Grim Gate: To access the Underworld, seek the Grim Gate on the island’s western side. There, you’ll encounter Cerberus, the three-headed guardian dog, who stands between you and your destination.
• The Underworld: Beyond Cerberus’s watchful gaze lies the Underworld, Hades’s domain. Though rivers flow through this land, an unnatural dryness pervades, a constant reminder of the absence of life.
• Brawler’s Battleground: The bloodlust of Ares hangs heavy in the air south of Mount Olympus. Will you enter the Brawler’s Battleground and face the god of war’s eternal test of might? The God of War Ares also makes his way in Fortnite as the Outfit of the April 2024 Crew Pack!

Weapons, Myths & Mods: All Chapter 5 Season 2 Weapons

New Weapons

With the new locations, the patch notes also mention the gods have summoned weapons for the mortals. You can gain immortal strength at your hands by using them. Here are all the new weapons making their way in Chapter 5 Season 2:

• Thunderbolt of Zeus: Using the Thunderbolt of Zeus will allow you to hover up in the air to hurl a lightning bolt at a location. The weapon comes with a maximum of 3 charges. There is also a delay between every bolt you cast. You can get the weapon across the Island or by defeating Zeus himself.
• Gatekeeper Shotgun: You can find the Gatekeeper Shotgun across the Island, but the Mythic variant is only obtainable from Cerberus rolling over. The shotgun forged by Hephaestus for Cerberus can quickly fire three aggressive rounds.
• Harbinger SMG: Hades’s Harbinger SMG is highly accurate at the first shot. The recoil and spread increase with more rounds. The regular version is available across the map. However, you need to defeat Hades to get the Mythic version.
• Huntress DMR: The Huntress DMR is inspired by the goddess of the moonlit hunt, Artemis. You can find the regular version across the map but to get the stronger Mythic version, defeat Zeus.
• Warforged Assault Rifle: This one is the favorite of the God of War Ares. Warforged Assault Rifle has high damage, a high rate of fire, and strong recoil. You can defeat Ares for the Mythic version or settle for the normal one found across the map.
• Wings of Icarus: As you think Zeus only sneaked in an Olympic weapon through the rift, save your jaw for the Wings of Icarus. You can fly using these wings and perform dive bombs on enemies. Taking too much damage or flying for too long can cause serious side effects. Luckily, you do not need to defeat any God to get this, as it is available across the map.

Another Olympic weapon will be added to the game later. The Chains of Hades weapon will be released later in the season.

New Weapon Mods

The Gods also sneaked in some weapon mods along with their Mythical weapons. The Fortnite patch notes also detail the new Thermal Scope and Speedgrip weapon mods. Attach the Thermal Scope for double scope view and thermal vision if you have a scoped weapon. If you attach the Speedgrip mod, your movement speed will increase while you use aim with your weapon. Unlike the previous season, you will find weapon mods in Weapons Bunkers which unlocks in the middle of a game.

Old Weapons

With all the new stuff the Gods bring, you will still be able to use your old weaponry. That is why there will be a few old weapons still available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. Here are the old weapons:

• Hammer Pump Shotgun
• Frenzy Auto Shotgun
• Nemesis AR
• Thunder Burst SMG
• Reaper Sniper Rifle
• Ranger Pistol

The Myths & Mortals Battle Pass: New Cosmetics

Along with the weapons, locations, and mods, you can play as the Gods themselves. Buy the Myths & Mortals Battle Pass to get the following cosmetics:

• Cerberus (unlocked immediately!)
• Aphrodite
• Poseidon
• Medusa
• Zeus
• Artemis
• Hades

Korra will also be added later in the battle pass, so look for it once it is launched.

While the Fortnite patch notes did not detail the release time, Chapter 5 Season 2 is already live. The new update is about 17 GB in total so we do recommend downloading it well before your scheduled playtime. Furthermore, there might be some server downtime before you are let in, so be prepared for that too.
