Heard commonplaces.io just came out on the chrome store..the extension is similar to some of the ones that were mentioned..but it’s free and they have a friendly community (really small too), even developers pay a lot of attention to recommendations…which is nice..people don’t do that anymore.

You should check out Rewind, a bookmark manager with a unique twist: it sorts your bookmarks by the date they were added, so everyday you can check out the links that you saved on the same date.

Toby is the best! Unfortunately the Firefox was removed over a year ago and is only available from the wayback machine. I use it at work and home but it’s been making me go through the tutorial every day… I’ve switched to raindrop but it’s not the same.
Toby is a tab manager and not a bookmark manager. You cannot import bookmarks from chrome or anywhere else

You should also check out yabs.io!!! Its a smart bookmarking website which allows you to save bookmarks indefinetley. Also it is free of charge! all you have to do is make an account and start saving away.
Your article is written in April 2020, and you state Toby is a relatively new app on the block. But it’s old, and at least for the firefox version, hasn’t been updated for years. You can Reddit “Toby for Firefox” to see for yourself. As far as Chrome etc, I don’t know, but I can say that their Toby’s site FAQ points to their Firefox addon, which is a dead link. So they don’t have a Firefox addon as they say AND they haven’t updated their website in who knows how long to remove their dead link.
I wouldn’t trust Toby.

xmarks is shutting down in May of 2018. Bookmarks synced locally will stay on your local browser, but xmarks accounts and cloud bookmarks will be unavailable after that date.
diigo is a commercial product. they have a free version but it has limits on how many bookmarks you can store (500/life – meaning once you have saved 500 bookmarks you can’t save any more, even if you delete some old bookmarks – to save more you have to upgrade to one of their subscription plans)

Xmarks is evaporating on May 1, 2018 and will no longer be an option. LastPass, who bought the app in 2010, is discontinuing support. Not enough premium users, I guess. I used Xmarks from the very beginning, when it was the Firefox-only “Foxmarks”, and I will miss it something fierce.
