Let’s break them down to see what each has to offer. The following table reflects the new prices Spotify announced for all Premium plans in June 2024.

Plan PriceBenefits
Free FreeIncludes ad breaks, no offline playback, cannot skip in between the song, song lyrics not visible, limited track skips
Premium Individual$11.99No ads, download songs for offline, high-quality music streaming, access to Premium-only features, unlimited track skips, and seamlessly switch playback between devices

Premium Family $19.99Includes six Premium accounts, Family mix playlist, access to Spotify Kids app with parental control
Premium Student $5.99Same as the Individual plan but at a lower price for students only, also includes Hulu (ad-supported) and Showtime subscriptions
Audiobook Access$9.99Access to Spotify’s library of audiobooks for 15 hours of total playback, and Spotify’s free tier for music streaming

Spotify Premium Individual ($11.99 per month)

The Individual Plan gives you access to 1 Premium account. The benefits of the Premium account include ad-free listening, high-quality music streaming, downloading songs and playlists for offline playback, unlimited track skips, and access to exclusive features like AI Playlist, Jams, and more.

This plan is suited for individual listeners who like to go solo. This plan also includes podcasts and up to 15 hours of listening to Spotify’s large library of audiobooks.

Spotify Premium Duo ($16.99 per month)

Premium Duo gives you all the perks of the Individual plan, and bundles in another account. This way you get 2 Premium accounts, at a discounted price, saving you almost seven Dollars. Spotify will also create a Duo playlist containing songs that both of you enjoy listening to.

However, you’ll have to verify that the two of you share the same address. You will still have access to your accounts if you are away from each other for a while, but the accounts will be nullified if you are living separately. This plan is a good option for couples planning to move in together, roommates, or siblings.

Spotify Premium Family ($19.99 per month)

The Premium Family is the best value-for-money plan if you live with your family or have more than three roommates. For $19.99 per month, you get 6 Premium accounts with all the Premium benefits. Like Duo, Spotify curates a Family mix playlist based on the tracks you and your family enjoy.

It also gives you access to the Spotify Kids app, so your little one doesn’t feel left out. It includes kid-friendly tracks, and you will have parental control over the explicit filter of your kid’s account. Each kid’s account will take a slot in the six accounts included in this plan. But like Duo, you all have to share the same address.

Spotify Premium Student ($5.99 per month)

The Premium Student plan is the same as the Individual plan but comes at a lower price. Don’t worry, you won’t miss out on any of the perks, in fact, Spotify also throws in subscriptions for Hulu and Showtime for free.

To claim this plan, you need to be a US citizen who is 18 years or above and studying in an IV-accredited college or university. We have a separate guide on how you can claim the student discount on Spotify that you can check out.

The Premium student only lasts for up to a maximum of four years. After this period, either you can cancel the subscription or it will automatically change to the Individual plan. In either case, your songs and playlists will be saved.

Spotify Audiobooks Access ($9.99 per month)

The Audiobook Access is not a Premium Plan per se, but gives you access to 15 hours of listening to Spotify’s catalog of audiobooks. Plus, you get the ad-supported free tier of Spotify along with it. Its only benefit is access to audiobooks, but that doesn’t justify its price as for a couple of dollars more, you can opt for the Premium plan which includes audiobooks.

Deals You Can Get on Spotify Premium

Spotify Premium Deals

If you are looking for deals on Premium, then we have a few ways to help you get Spotify Premium plan for free or at a discounted price.

  • Premium Student: As discussed, the student plan gives you all the benefits of an Individual for almost half the price. If you are a student, or starting college soon, then you should get this plan instead to save some cash.
  • One Month Free Premium: Spotify gives one to three months of free Premium trial to users who sign up with a new email address. So if you haven’t used Spotify, and planning on starting to, then make sure to claim this benefit.
  • Sign Up With PayPal: If you sign up to Spotify using PayPal, then you can claim three months of Spotify Premium for free. But it is only available for new users. You also cannot stack the free 1-month trial offered by Spotify with this.
  • Get Spotify Premium Family: The Family plan gives you access to six Premium accounts at $19.99. If you calculate, the costs come down to around $3 per account, which is a steal in my opinion.
  • Be a Starbucks Partner: Those working at Starbucks can claim the Premium plan for free using their Partner program. This also works for existing Spotify accounts. Just visit their website to switch to a partner account.
  • Lookout for Bundle Offers: Spotify partnered with several brands that offer Spotify Premium if you buy their products or services. Samsung briefly gave away 3 months of Spotify Premium with the purchase of their phones. AT&T also gives 6 months of free Spotify Premium with their Unlimited plan.

This was a close look at all the Spotify Premium plans offered by the music streaming service, and how you can get them for cheap. I hope you found this guide helpful. As Spotify costs rack up, I stopped subscribing to Premium. It’s just a little too much for me to afford. I’ve been trying a converter called DumpMedia lately. It can bulk download Spotify songs in original quality. It’s good to have my music under my control.
