Let’s admit it, Spotify’s $10.99/month starting price tag on the Premium Individual Plan is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s more straining on a student’s budget, but there’s good news. If you’re a student, there’s a Spotify Premium Student Plan as well that’s available at a 50% discounted rate of $5.99/month. However, it’s not that straightforward and can be an annoyance. To make the process easier for you, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get a Spotify student discount easily!
1. Create and Verify SheerID
First things first, we couldn’t the option to get the discount via the Spotify app on Android or iOS for some reason. So, you will need to use the web version to get the student discount. So, visit Spotify on the web and log in to your account. Then, follow the below steps:
- You will see the Explore Premium button at the top right. Click on this.
- On the next page, scroll down to find the Premium Student Plan with a dedicated button to get it. Click on this button.
- Next, you’ll be taken to the SheerID student verification page. Here, hit Next.
- That will take you to the “Tell us about yourself” page where you will need to fill in your respective details. These details are what will be used to create your SheerID. Once done, hit the checkbox and select Next.
- You will then be taken to a page that asks you to “Verify using your educational establishment’s credentials.” Hit the Log in to School button here.
Note: If you can’t sign in to your student email or just don’t have one yet, you can choose to head back to the verification page and instead of Log in to School, you will see an “Upload Proof of Enrollment” button. Click on this and follow the on-screen instructions.
- As soon as you do that, based on the institution you have selected, Google will automatically fetch the domain. You just have to type in your personalized student ID that comes before it and log in.
2. Avail Spotify Student Discount
- A Verification Pending window will open up. Then, when you head back to the verification page, you will see that you’re eligible for the student discount. Here, select the Get Student Discount icon.
- The next page will ask you to confirm your account details. Hit the button and you’ll be taken to a page to Choose Your Plan.
Note: You have a year to choose your Spotify Student Plan after verifying as a student, after which, you will have to repeat the process.
- On the next page, you will see a banner listing the perks you get with the Spotify Student Plan. Click on the Get Premium for Students button below.
- Now, all you have to do is fill in the required details on the next page and make the payment.
