A new report from digital intelligence firm Sensor Tower has revealed that an astounding 89% of all GTA 6 pre-orders are for the $100 Ultimate Edition, rather than the $80 Standard Edition. This exceeds past gaming trends, where premium or deluxe editions captured only 10% to 20% of total pre-order volume.
GTA 6 Fans Are Going All-In on the Ultimate Edition, Reports Suggest
According to the data shared by Sensor Tower, the preference for the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is not just limited to one platform. This is because 88.5% and 90% of buyers have opted for the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation and Xbox, respectively.
Even though both editions come with a GTA 6 Vice City pack with pre-orders, trends clearly show the Ultimate Edition of the game is more popular.
In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, Karl Kontus, the General Manager of Video Game Insights at Sensor Tower, revealed: “A 50% premium share during preorders is a great number. Typical premium shares for games tend to be around 10-20%. That being said, I have never seen a 90% premium share before.”
The findings in the report also align with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s comments regarding how more GTA 6 Ultimate Edition pre-orders have contributed to the majority of the sales till now, as compared to the Standard Edition.
Zelnick called the GTA 6 pre-order numbers “unprecedented and astronomical” while also revealing how early interest was heavily skewed toward the $100 edition of the game.
It’s clear that GTA 6 Ultimate Edition locking shops and certain GTA 6 hairstyles behind a paywall has worked in Rockstar’s favor. The numbers prove that the hype is real and players are lining up for the Ultimate Edition of the title, regardless of its price, thanks to its offerings such as some unique GTA 6 cars you won’t easily find in the Standard Edition.
Now, with the GTA 6 Extended Look already set for August 27, 2026, players will finally get a glimpse of what Rockstar has been working on for over a decade, which may finally reveal the GTA 6 map at last.
