- Take Two CEO confirms that the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition has been pre-ordered more times than the Standard Edition, although they are selling both versions well.
- According to him, this is more due to the avid consumer choosing to pre-order than a shift towards the premium packages for gamers.
- He also confirmed that GTA 6 won't get any discounts anytime soon.
Take Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has confirmed in an interview with CNBC that GTA 6 fans are pre-ordering the $100 Ultimate Edition more than the $80 Standard Edition. According to him, “it might be a reflection of the most avid consumers pre-ordering the game.”
In the interview, Strauss also talks about how the GTA 6 pre-orders have gone much better than expected. He had also recently mentioned in the Take Two investor call that the GTA 6 pre-order sales are astronomical and unprecedented, although he did stay away from revealing the actual numbers.
Furthermore, when asked about a possible Christmas discount, the Take Two CEO replied that it would be unlikely as they plan to preserve the price for a long time. This also means that GTA 6 won’t be seeing any discounts anytime soon, which was expected.
The GTA 6 price has been one of the most debated topics in the gaming community, even before the GTA 6 pre-orders were announced. The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition provides insane value over the Standard Edition, but it also comes with the much dreaded $100 price tag.

Gamers have been debating about the inflation in video game pricing for a long time, and seeing Rockstar Games finally breaking the ice felt as a shock to many. Especially because the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition locked many missions and features behind a paywall.
One thing to note is that the game’s pre-order success has been largely due to its marketing campaign. With Rockstar Games planning to release GTA 6 extended look on Netflix, 6 hours before anywhere else, has brought in the perfect viral response. Whether people are upset or happy about it, everyone is for sure talking about the marketing move.
