- The Wuthering Waves Echo system is similar to the Relic or Artifact system in Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact.
- Echoes can be captured by defeating enemies in the overworld or farming Echo domains.
- Echoes give a stat boost to the Resonators and also provide a unique Echo ability. Other than that, equipping two or five Echoes of the same element can unlock Echo set effects.
Wuthering Waves features one of the most impactful combat systems in the gacha gaming genre. One of the combat aspect of Wuthering Waves are Echoes, which have different abilities and can provide a significant combat advantage when used correctly. Here is a complete guide on what are Echoes and how to capture them in Wuthering Waves.
What Are Echoes in Wuthering Waves
In Wuthering Waves, you can defeat normal enemies and capture them as Echoes after defeat. Many Boss enemies can also become Echoes, and every Echo has unique abilities. Furthermore, every Echo has a different rarity, ranging from 2-star to 5-star. The 5-star Echoes have more sub-stats slots and have higher levels.
Like Artifacts or Relics in Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, you can also level up your Echoes to increase their base stats. Capturing Echoes in the game also updates the data bank in Wuthering Waves, which provides completion rewards.
Wuthering Waves Echo Abilities: How to Use
Echoes can be equipped by Resonators and they provide an increase to the base Stats like HP, Attack, or Energy Regeneration. Farming Echoes for specific stats on different Resonators is going to be one of the main gameplay loops of Wuthering Waves, similar to farming artifacts. Other than the improvement to base stats, each Echo has an active ability. This ability can be used by the Resonator in battle and can turn the tide of the battle when correctly used.
Every Echo has a cost requirement between 1 and 4. Resonators have an Echo cost limit of 12 and 5 Echo equip slots, so you can equip multiple Echoes until the Cost limit of the Resonator is met or the Echo equip slots are full. When equipping multiple Echoes, players can only have one main Echo, which will have the active Echo ability unlocked for the Resonator. The cost of Echoes is based on their classes.
Echo Classes, Rarities, and Stats in Wuthering Waves
Echoes are separated into four classes, each class having a different cost. Echoes in different classes can have different stats. Each Echo has a Primary Randomly chosen stat, a Secondary main stat, and can have up to 5 additional sub-stats.
Here are all the Echo classes in Wuthering Waves with their Primary | Secondary main stats:
- Common (1 Cost): HP%, ATK%, DEF% | Flat HP
- Elite (3 Cost): HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Energy Regen%, Elemental Damage Boost% | Flat Attack
- Overlord (4 Cost): HP%, ATK%, DEF% Crit Rate%, Crit DMG%, Healing Bonus% | Flat Attack
- Calamity (4 Cost): HP%, ATK%, DEF% Crit Rate%, Crit DMG%, Healing Bonus% | Flat Attack
So, to equip Echoes in all the 5 equip slots, you can either go 4-3-3-1-1 or 4-4-1-1-1, to get all the stats on your Resonator.
Other than the Primary and Secondary main stats, each Echo can have up to 5 sub-stats based on their Rarity. There are four Echo rarities for each class and they range from 2-star to 5-star. Echoes with higher rarities can have increased max level and more sub-stats.
- 2 Star Echo: Green | Max Level 10 | Max Sub Stats 2
- 3 Star Echo: Blue | Max Level 15 | Max Sub Stats 3
- 4 Star Echo: Purple | Max Level 20 | Max Sub Stats 4
- 5 Star Echo: Gold | Max Level 25 | Max Sub Stats 5
Now, Sub-stats play an important role in increasing your Resonator’s strength. Each sub-stat roles every 5 Echo levels. The best part about the sub-stats in Wuthering Waves is that you can have the same sub-stat as the main stat. Here are all the possible sub-stats:
- Flat HP
- Flat Attack
- Flat Defense
- HP%
- Attack%
- Defense%
- Crit Rate%
- Crit Damage%
- Basic Attack Damage Bonus%
- Heavy Attack Damage Bonus%
- Resonance Skill Damage Bonus%
- Resonance Liberation Damage Bonus%
Echo Set Effects in Wuthering Waves
Like Relics and Artifacts in Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact, the Echo system in Wuthering Waves also has set effects. Echoes of the same element can be equipped together, irrespective of their classes, to get a 2-piece and 5-piece set bonus.
For example, equipping 2 Glacio Elemental Echoes at the same time will give the 2-piece Glacio set bonus, which is 10% Glacio damage boost. If 5 Glacio Echoes are equipped together, then it will additionally give the 5-piece Glacio set bonus, which is an additional 10% Glacio damage increase (max 3 stacks) when a Normal attack is used for 15 seconds.
So, you can either go for the 5-piece Echo set effect or two 2-piece Echo set effect.
How to Capture Echoes in Wuthering Waves
Echoes can be captured by defeating the enemies in the overworld. Each time you defeat an enemy in the overworld, they can drop their Echo. Here is how you can capture Echoes of different classes.
- Overlord and Calamity Echoes (Bosses): The boss enemies in Wuthering Waves respawn every 5-minutes. Fighting the bosses doesn’t consume Stamina like the other Gacha games and can be done indefinitely. However, the first five defeats have an increased chance of dropping Echoes.
- Elite and Normal Echoes (Overworld): The overworld enemies reset every day at 4 AM, so players can farm them for drops every day at different overworld locations.
- Echo Domains: Farming Echo Domains costs stamina but players can farm specific Echoes from them faster. Every Echo Domain run will cost 60 stamina.
