From the looks of it, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus will not be remembered as a device that left its own unique mark in the segment. It's simply not a good upgrade over the Phone 2a. The design changes, although aesthetically pleasing, are not enough to justify its existence as an upgrade. It offers the same display size and resolution, same battery capacity with only 5W more of fast charging, and a processor that's only ever so better on paper.
Nothing Phone 2a has received a new Blue Edition in India, and I have gotten my hands on it ahead of its sale on May 2. The Blue color variant is my second favorite color option after the White. The phone's frame is also blue with black buttons. The Blue color variant also has better display tuning than the other two color options.

Two indie developers have come up with a Nothing-inspired dialer app that is now available for Android users to download on the Google Play Store. So, by the end, you will figure out which phones takes the lead in this comparison.
If the Nothing Phone (2a) is not your cup of tea, there are a few alternatives you can buy. Phones like the POCO X6, Motorola Edge 40 Neo, iQOO Z7 Pro, Redmi Note 13 Pro, and OnePlus Nord CE 3 are all great mid-range devices under Rs 25,000 and come with features that easily rival the Phone (2a).

Both the Nothing Phone 2a and POCO X6 are priced pretty under Rs. 25,000, with the former costing Rs. 1,000 more. Costing less, the POCO X6 comes with both a charger and good-quality case right in the box. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone 2a does not come with either. The POCO X6 also comes with a 1.5K display and a 3.5mm headphone jack, whereas the Nothing Phone 2a comes with an FHD+ display and no headphone jack. However, where the Nothing Phone 2a emerges superior is in the software department. From fluid animations to a bloatware-free experience, the software experience is unbeatable in the budget. You also get solid battery backup and better cameras on the Phone 2a. So, it all comes down to whether you are willing to pay that extra money for it.
The Nothing Phone 2a is an all rounder near-perfect budget phone that offers an unparalleled software experience, commendable battery backup, good cameras and a stable performance throughout. However, it comes with its own shortcomings. For starters, it comes with a plastic frame and back panel, for which it feels a tad cheap in hand. You also don't get a charger or case in the box. Keeping these things aside, the device ticks almost all the boxes and is an easy recommendation for those looking for a good budget phone.
