Shift Up’s Q2 2026 earnings report is out, and it includes updates on the highly anticipated Stellar Blade sequel, titled Stellar Blade Blood Rain. As per Shift Up, the development of Blood Rain is “progressing smoothly”. However, they haven’t disclosed a release window for the Stellar Blade sequel just yet.
The studio says, “Under the principle of securing sufficient development time to deliver the highest level of polish, we will disclose further information about the game in stages. We will do our best to live up to our users’ heightened expectations.”
The original Stellar Blade on PS5 took about five years to release, beginning development under the codename Project Eve in April 2019, and releasing on April 26, 2024. So, we can expect the same development cycle for the Stellar Blade sequel, if not more.
Shift Up announced Stellar Blade: Blood Rain at Summer Games Fest 2026 with a 3-minute video trailer. According to the Q2 2026 earnings report, the trailer amassed 1.61 million cumulative views on IGN’s official channel. The anticipation around the IP’s future is definitely apparent.
In addition, Shift Up also commented on how Blood Rain differentiates from the original Stellar Blade, noting that the sequel “amplifies the combat praised in its predecessor while further strengthening the world and story”. The studio expects to surpass the original Stellar Blade’s success by self-publishing the sequel and reaching global users more closely.
Shift Up reports that both PS5 and PC versions of Stellar Blade have maintained steady sales since their launch. The Korean studio also confirmed the release of a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Stellar Blade in the second half of 2026, as announced at Nintendo Direct in June 2026.
Beyond Blood Rain, Shift Up is also working on multiple unannounced IPs, including Project Spirtis, described as an “AAA-class live-service title built on an ‘Eastern fantasy’ universe.” For players waiting for more Blood Rain updates, the studio will reveal further details in stages.
