The Minecraft 1.21 snapshot cycle is officially over and the pre-releases have started to roll out. The Minecraft 1.20.5 pre-release 1 for Java Edition has been released today, and it brings some welcome as well as some disappointing ones. So, buckle up and let’s explore it together.
Wind Burst Enchantment Nerfed
The super powerful and also very satisfying wind burst enchantment for the mace has unfortunately been nerfed today. As of this pre-release, this effect will not activate if you hit the target standing at the same Y level as you.
This means you are forced to land on the target from at least two blocks for this enchantment to work. This is not all that terrible, but it does make it a little less satisfying to use.
Trial Chambers and Ominous Trials Changes
The new trial chambers structure has received some great changes in Minecraft 1.20.5 pre-release 1. They include:
- Better generation consistency;
- New room designs;
- More dispenser traps;
- Fixed broken connections and weird generation inside the structure;
- More lights to quadrants.
Changes to ominous trials have made the new challenges, which activate with the Bad Omen effect, even harder than before. These are the following:
- Spawned mobs will often have enchanted weapons and armor (high-level armor enchantments and low-level weapon enchantments);
- Mobs cannot drop their gear;
- Ominous trial spawner will choose the player 50% of the time to summon a potion or projectile above them;
- Weaving effect spawns cobwebs more consistently and your movement speed is now decreased by 50% instead of 75%;
- Infested effect now has a 10% chance of spawning silverfish;
- Oozing makes slimes spawn in a 5x5x5 area.
New Advancements
Besides these changes, Minecraft 1.20.5 pre-release 1 has also added a bunch of new advancements that help guide you through the Minecraft 1.21 update. These are:
- Revaulting – Unlock an ominous vault with an ominous trial key;
- Isn’t it Scute? – Get armadillo scutes from an armadillo using a brush;
- Snip it! – Remove wolf armor from a wolf using shears;
- Good as New – Repair a damaged wolf armor using armadillo scutes;
- The Whole Pack – Tame one of each wolf variant.
With that, those are all the exciting changes and additions in Minecraft 1.20.5 pre-release 1, apart from technical changes and bug fixes. So, what are your thoughts on the 1.21 update coming soon? How happy are you with these last-minute changes? Share with us in the comments below!
