Loki Finally Achieves His Glorious Purpose in Loki Season 2 Episode 6

Loki season 2 has finally come to an end with its final sixth episode and the end of this season is as “glorious” as you can imagine. In this episode, we see that after learning how to control his time slipping Loki goes back in time multiple times to protect the demise of the timelines. He goes back literally centuries in order to learn everything there is to learn so he can fix the temporal loom. However, all his efforts go into vain after he realizes that no matter what he does, the temporal loom cannot be fixed. He had two options- one to kill Sylvie and protect He Who Remains, or let Sylvie kill He Who Remains resulting in the doom of all time. So, he does something no one could have imagined and finally achieves his glorious purpose, but what is it? What is Loki’s glorious purpose which he achieves in Loki Season 2 Episode 6? Find out in this article!

Loki Becomes The Center Of The Multiverse

By the end of this episode, we see that Loki, after multiple tries understands that he will have to take matters into his own hands, quite literally. Loki walks out the blast doors with the temporal loom going berserk and while his clothes burn down because of the radiation, he gets into his Loki costume which is quite different from what we saw previously.

Loki, using his magic, breaks the temporal loom and deliberately kills all the timelines. He then grabs hold of all the dead branches bringing them together. We see that he sees the damaged mansion of He Who Remains and walks up to it holding on to the dead branches.

He sits on the throne of He Who Remains and brings all the dead branches back to life. We see that all the branches of time form a tree-like structure around him and he is the center of it keeping all the timelines and the growing branches of it together. Now, this is a huge reference to the Yggdrasil tree in Norse mythology which is where the whole of universe and all nine realms exist. In Norse myths, Odin and his horse take care of this tree but here we see Loki being the master of all time.

If we talk about his “Glorious purpose” Loki always wanted a throne and was in search of his glorious place in the cosmos and as far as I think, this is the best way we could have seen him achieving it. As of now, we do not know where this can lead but it might be the point of origin of upcoming Marvel projects like Avengers: Secret Wars. Whatever way Marvel decides to take this, one thing is for sure, Loki’s Glorious Purpose might extend to more than just being the master of all time, but only time will tell what is to happen next.
