Make the iPhone X’s Notch Disappear With This Sneaky Wallpaper Trick

Featured

Coming from Apple, the iPhone X is one of the most refreshing iPhone designs we’ve seen in a really long time. The new bezel-less design looks mighty attractive at first sight, along with the notch holding a host of Face ID sensors at the center top. While users seem to be getting used to the design choice, it can become distracting for some really soon. However, you don’t need to worry as we have a trick up our sleeve that can help hide the notch from the home and lock screen.

Apple has included the notch on its flagship iPhone to distinguish it from its ongoing design that has been in use forever. iPhone X’s notch houses the multitude of Face ID sensors and front camera, displaying the time, network, and battery info on the display beside it. This made the developers think that it would be easy to navigate their way around the notch but it is not possible as Apple has set guidelines for how the iPhone X’s notch (sensor housing) should be approached while developing apps:

“Don’t mask or call special attention to key display features. Don’t attempt to hide the device’s rounded corners, sensor housing, or indicator for accessing the Home screen by placing black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.”

Apple has defined the aforementioned app guidelines for iOS developers but hasn’t added any clause about the wallpapers you can use on your iPhone X. Hence, here are a handful of modified Apple wallpapers with a black bar at the top, that’ll line up with the notch. It’ll replace the screen on both sides of the notch with a black background, hiding the same from view. The notch will, however, be visible when you open an app.

When you navigate to Settings > Wallpaper and choose a new wallpaper from the camera roll, Apple will try to apply the selected image in perspective mode. But, you will need to set the altered wallpaper as a still image that you can pinch and move to hide the notch. Hit Set, followed by ‘Set Both’ to replace your current wallpaper with the notch-less one.
