After Apple admitted to have intentionally slowed down older iPhones due to aging batteries, it has been offering battery replacements for almost one-third of the cost. It’s been a year now and this was a great offer for those with iPhone 6 or newer models, who wanted a new battery outside warranty. But now the offer is about to end soon.
Apple had announced the replacement would be valid throughout 2018 and now that we’re already in the final month of the year, you have a limited number of days at hand before the offer expires. With the announcement, the price of battery replacement on iPhone models was cut down from $79 to $29 and to Rs 2,000 in India.
The iPhone models supported in the program include the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhones 6s and 6s Plus, 7 and 7 Plus, 8 and 8 Plus, and iPhone X. However, newer models such as iPhones 8 and X are less likely to face such issues.
In case your phone’s battery has taken a hit over the last few years, it is advisable that you make use of the replacement program and get it replaced before December 31. If you’re not sure, you can go to Settings on your device and then look up “Battery” option to know about the health of the battery – make sure you have at least iOS 11.3 or higher.
If you don’t get the battery exchanged within the period of this offer, you might have to pay up to $49 or Rs 5,900 in India for most iPhone models.
In order to make use of this offer, visit the Apple Support page and then choose iPhone, followed by “Battery & Charging” and then “Battery Replacement”. Choose the “Bring in for Repair” option to book a time slot for your visit to the Apple authorized service center or choose the option to talk to an Apple Care representative if you have any doubts.
