Apple Vision Pro Environments: How to Turn Them Off

In Short
  • The Apple Vision Pro's Environments are virtual spaces that enhance your immersion.
  • You can turn this off by manually rotating the physical Digital Crown button anticlockwise.
  • Additionally, you can also command Siri and ask her to toggle it off for you.

When I first started using the Apple Vision Pro, I was blown away by the different Environments that it featured. These environments take the immersion to a whole new level, and teleport you to stunning virtual spaces. However, if your Environment level is maxed out, you will find yourself being unaware of your surroundings, bumping into different objects or even people in the real world. So, if you are new to the Vision Pro experience and don’t know how to toggle off this setting or adjust it to the point that you can see things around you, this guide’s got you covered. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at how to easily turn off Environments on your Apple Vision Pro.

There are two ways to turn off Environments on Vision Pro and I’ve explained both below.

Turn off Vision Pro Environment Using Digital Crown

The first and easiest way to adjust your Apple Vision Pro’s Environment is by using the physical Digital Crown button. You will find this button on the top right side of the headset. Just like the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch, you can rotate this clockwise or counterclockwise. Doing so will adjust the Environment level of your Vision Pro. Turn it counterclockwise all the way to turn off the Environment completely.

Turn off Vision Pro Environment Using Siri

Another way to do it is by summoning Siri and commanding her to turn off environments. However, to do so, you will first need to set up voice control on your Vision Pro. Here’s the step-by-step process:

Set up Voice Control

  • Press the Digital Crown once to summon the headset’s Home View. Then, use the pinch Vision Pro gesture and visit Settings from here.
  • In the headset’s Settings, scroll down on the left panel to find the Accessibility panel. Pinch this.
  • Then, you will see a bunch of related options pop up on the right. Here, scroll down to find Voice Control and pinch it.
  • Next, at the top, you will see the option to Set Up Voice Control. Select this.
  • In the Voice Control pop-up window, pinch the blue Continue button. Right beside it, you will see the language pack panel as well. You can change your desired language from here if you wish to.
  • Hit the blue Done button in the “What can I say?” window and that will complete your voice setup and activate Siri.

Summon Siri and Use a Voice Command

  • Next, a blue microphone button will pop up in your status bar and it will show up at all times suggesting that you can access voice control at any time.
  • So, simply saying “Siri” now will summon the voice assistant and you will see the Siri icon at the bottom of your field of view. Once you summon Siri, say something like, “Turn off Environment”. Siri will instantly turn it off for you.

To get rid of the Voice Control icon, simply say “Turn off Voice Control”. Then, a confirmation window will pop up where you will need to pinch the Confirm button.

A funny thing is that when I tried using Siri to turn the Environment back on for me, it didn’t understand the command. Moreover, Siri can’t adjust the Environment level, and can only turn it off for you.

If you ask me, using the Digital Crown button to adjust the Environment is the best way to go about this.
