Here’s How to Get OxygenOS 5.0 with Oreo on OnePlus 3/3T Right Now

We just published an article informing our readers about the fact that OnePlus has released Android Oreo for OnePlus 3 and 3T with its OxygenOS 5.0 update. As mentioned in that article, the OxygenOS 5.0 OTA update is being rolled out in stages and  the aforementioned devices will receive the update in the coming weeks. However, if you don’t want to wait that long, you can use a hack to get the OxygenOS 5.0 update right now. The hack is very simple and if you want the update right now, here is how to do it:

Install OxygenOS 5.0 Update On OnePlus 3/3T

1. Install a VPN app on your phone. I use TunnelBear, but you can use anyone VPN app. Launch the VPN service and set Canada as the preferred connection country. Now, start the VPN.

2. Open the Settings app and go to System Update. Now, the phone will start looking for any available update. If it’s not doing that automatically, just tap on the button where it says, “Check For Updates”.3. Now, all you need to do is to wait for a few seconds and the update will be shown. Tap on the Download Now button to download and install the update.

After the update has started to download, you can close the VPN app. Don’t worry, the download will not be affected. We only needed the VPN connection to trick the OnePlus updater into showing us the update. That said, you might need to reconnect the VPN when the download is finished, so if you don’t want to do that, you can keep the VPN running throughout the process.
