A new report coming from DigiTimes has revealed exciting details on Intel's future Lunar Lake processors. Reportedly, Samsung will supply LPDDR5X RAM modules to be used in Intel's Lunar Lake processors. These new processors will not feature upgradeable RAM. Instead, the RAM will be positioned right next to the package, hence the 'on-die' memory. Also, Lunar Lake is expected to support up to 8533MHz LPDDR5X RAM.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has spoken during the company's Q4-23 earnings call. It was revealed that upcoming Lunar Lake & Arrow Lake processors from Intel will have 3 times the AI performance as what we currently have. These processors should be announced in 2025 itself. Then, with Intel Panther Lake, the CEO claims the new processor will deliver another 2 times gain in AI performance.
Intel Arc graphics have gotten better with the new 220.127.116.1186 driver update. In many AAA titles, Intel Arc A-series GPUs have notable performance gains such as Returnal & The Last of Us Part 1 getting 8% more FPS. Core Ultra processors with Arc graphics also see performance improvements, with 6% more FPS in mentioned games at lower settings.
Intel has released new 14th Gen mobile processors for 2025 gaming laptops. This includes i9-14900HX, i7-14700HX, i5-14500HX, and i5-14450HX processors. The i7 gets double the E-cores, and features much better mulit-threaded performance. Others simply see a slight increase in performance, thanks to better clock speeds. The company also updated the Series 1 Core Ultra lineup, with additional processors which are non-Ultra variants. Intel 14th Gen desktop lineup also got updated, with non-K desktop processors.
Lenovo ThinkBook 14+ is an upcoming laptop. This has been shown in leaks to feature Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, and also has an Oculink EGPU port. Oculink is better than Thunderbolt, providing less bottlenecks when using it for external laptop graphics.
Intel Core Ultra processors have been tested in Linux-centric CPU benchmarks. This testing revealed disappointing performance results. However, it is quite early to say which is the better processor. Depending on how a particular program takes advantage of Meteor Lake hybrid performance architecture in Core Ultra processors, the performance will differ. Intel's own benchmarks point us in the opposite direction, showing Core Ultra is better.
ASRock has just launched its new Mini PC lineup. The highlight feature is the addition of Intel Core Ultra processors, with Core Ultra 5 125H and Core Ultra 7 155H being available as the CPU options. The new Meteor Lake Arc graphics make these new Mini PCs quite good in the graphics department as compared to last generation. These Mini PCs support up to quad 4K displays, and have latest features like Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4.
