Parasyte Gets a Korean Live-Action Adaptation; Check out the Release Date

Netflix is on a roll lately with its live-action adaptations, including One Piece (review), Avatar: The Last Airbender, Yu Yu Hakusho, and more. They are now trying to keep the winning streak up and running with yet another live-action adaptation of the Parasyte manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki. Netflix has garnered a star-studded and talented cast to bring another manga into reality. Read on to learn about the plot and release date of the Parasyte: The Grey live-action series by Netflix.

Parasyte: The Grey Release Date Announced

Both the Parasyte manga and Parasyte: The Maxim anime (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu) are one of the highest-rated in their respective mediums. The anime did justice to the enthralling manga, and now, it is time for the live-action to repeat this incredible feat.

The renowned director Yeon Sang-ho, the director of Train to Busan, Hellbound, Peninsula, etc., has been appointed to run the show along with Ryu Yong-jae (Money Heist: Korea & Peninsula). That said, Parasyte: The Grey is set to be released on April 5, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.

As the live-action is based on a popular manga, the official plotline of the series is as follows:

When unidentified parasites violently take over human hosts and gain power, humanity must rise to combat the growing threat.

Cast and Crew of Parasyte: The Grey

Along with the South Korean director, numerous cast members from the South Korean industry have been revealed by Netflix. They are:

• Showrunners: Yeon Sang-ho and Ryu Yong-jae
• Jeon So-nee (known for her roles in Soulmate, Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage, Our Blooming Youth, etc)
• Koo Kyo-hwan (known for his roles in D.P, Escape from Mogadishu, etc)
• Lee Jung-hyun (known for her roles in Decision to Leave, Alice in Earnestland, The Battleship Island, etc)
• Kwon Hae-hyo (known for his roles in The Day After, Hommage, etc)
• Kim In-kwon (known for his roles in My Way, C’est Si Bon, etc)

As of now, we don’t know anything about the roles these stars will be playing.
