OnePlus 7 Pro Gets the Same DisplayMate Score as the Galaxy S10 Plus

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro on May 14th, and while we were all pretty sure they’d be among the fastest smartphones out there (that’s something you can trust OnePlus on), DisplayMate today gave OnePlus fans a fresh new surprise.

In a tweet on its official handle, DisplayMate said that the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display has been tested in-depth by them and it received their highest A+ rating in the tests. The exact wordings of the tweet read “DisplayMate’s in-depth Lab Tests of the OnePlus 7 Pro OLED Display have just been completed, earning our Highest A+ Display Rating. Our in-depth Display Shoot-Out will be published here on May 14.”

That’s some high-level praise for the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display, which, the company itself has claimed will be the best display on a OnePlus smartphone ever, and that it costs considerably more than any other display on a OnePlus phone. The A+ rating from DisplayMate puts it right next to high-end flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S10 Plus, which received DisplayMate’s highest ever A+ rating when it launched.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to keep basically the same spec-sheet as the OnePlus 7, but is expected to up its display game with a higher-resolution AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate — a first for OnePlus smartphones. It will also have a curved display, similar to the Galaxy S10, or the P30 Pro, which should definitely add to the in-hand feel of the phone, even though palm-rejection will be a major focus point with a display like that.

Needless to say, the OnePlus 7 Pro looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the best Android smartphones of the year, and if the company gets the price right on this, it might just be one of their best selling smartphones as well. We’ll get to know the pricing and all the details about the phone on May 14, when it’s officially launched, and DisplayMate has also said that it will publish the full display shoot-out of the OnePlus 7 Pro on that same day; clearly, there’s a lot to look forward to in May.
