Kokuto Yoru (aka Black Blade Yoru) is currently the strongest sword in One Piece. It is befittingly in the hands of the greatest swordsman in the world, Dracule Mihawk. Yoru is graded as one of the 12 Supreme Grade swords, the highest quality swords ever created in the One Piece universe. It is also worth noting that it’s a black blade due to the prolonged usage of Armament Haki. It’s a gigantic sword in the shape of a crucifix but Mihawk mostly uses it single-handedly (using both hands sometimes) despite its heavy weight.

Yoru has colossal strength, unmatched durability, and sharpness. But combined with Mihawk’s next-level swordsmanship, this blade can cause absolute destruction. As seen numerous times already, Yoru can slash ships and icebergs into pieces with a single slash. The Pirate King was able to conquer the seas without any devil fruit powers, thanks to his Haki and this legendary sword. This sword was with Roger during his complete pirate journey.

It was a simple-looking sword but Roger coated it with his Armament and Conqueror’s type of Hakis to elevate its power to the maximum. Roger is the strongest Haki user to this date, so you can imagine how vastly it enhanced his swordsmanship skills. A single slash from this sword was able to send Kozuki Oden flying back. 3. Murakumogiri

Murakumogiri is one of the most important weapons in history without a doubt and Whitebeard always carried it with him.

It is one of the strongest swords to be crafted in One Piece. What made it even better was Whitebeard’s style of usage. 4. Gryphon

Despite being a simple-looking saber, Shanks used it in his clash against Whitebeard’s Murakumogiri and even against Akainu’s (one of the strongest devil fruit users) Magma Punch. It was able to withstand these thunderous attacks, which tells us a lot about this sword’s strength and incredible durability.

For a man like Shanks, it would be only right to have one of the strongest swords with a Supreme Grade or Great Grade sword. So, fingers crossed until we receive more information on this sword. Fun fact: the sword’s name was derived from the mythical beasts which are seen in South Blue.

5. Shodai Kitetsu

It was crafted by the swordsmiths of Kitetsu in Wano and its whereabouts are currently unknown.

We also have no official image of it but remember the Gandhi-lookalike among the Gorosei (Five Elders) in One Piece? He carries a sword and there is a mysterious connection here. Basically, whenever he appears on screen, he carries a sword with him, and that sword shares a striking resemblance to the other Kitetsu swords. 6. Enma

Prior to him, it was possessed by the legendary Kozuki Oden, who even used the Enma to slay Kaido. It is the only sword along with Ame no Habakiri, which has managed to leave a scar on Kaido. Oden’s daughter Kozuki Hiyori received the Enma, and she gave it to Zoro in exchange for the Shusui.

From that time, Zoro uses this blade to stir up trouble wherever he goes, and he caused a huge storm during the raid on Onigashima. The Enma is one of the greatest swords in the One Piece universe, and Kozaburo (who made the sword) considered it his best creation. It is a masterpiece of a sword that possesses massive power and incredible sharpness to cut through anything. This sword is said to be unpredictable and difficult to manage because of the abrupt and substantial discharge of the owner’s Armament (or Ryou) Haki. Zoro initially noticed this effect when practicing with the Enma, but he managed to get a good hold of it.

Nonetheless, Zoro was able to cut through a piece of an island with this blade at the beginning itself. And according to Sukiyaki, it has the potential to become a supreme-grade sword if Zoro ends up mastering it; making it a complete black sword.

7. Ame no Habakiri

After Oden’s demise, his two swords (as he was a dual sword wielder) Enma and Ame no Habakiri went to his kids Momonosuke and Hiyori. Alongside Enma, this is the only other sword to injure Kaido. While Enma is said to be able to “cut through the bottom of Hell,” Ame no Habakiri is capable of “slicing through the Heavens,”

Ame no Habakiri is undoubtedly one of the strongest swords to be created in the One Piece world. Its colossal power along with its insane sharpness makes it a masterpiece. It was able to clash against two of the 12 Supreme Grade swords, namely Ace and Murakumogiri. Oden was on a rampage with this sword as well as Enma, and his battles are a testament to the greatness of these swords.

8. Shusui

Shusui is a black blade and belongs to one of the 21 Great Grade (Ō Wazamono) swords. This sword is revered as a holy Wano relic since it was originally held by the legendary “Sword God” Shimotsuki Ryuma of the Wano. Zoro used this sword as the Yubashiri sword’s replacement until Gyukimaru snatched it away in the Wano country arc (one of the best One Piece arcs).

Since the Enma was a national treasure that had been lost for years, Kozuki Hiyori offered her “Enma” as payment for Shusui. During the time Zoro carried this sword, it was indeed a powerful black sword capable of wreaking havoc everywhere. It is said that Ryuma even cut a dragon’s head with this very sword. Being a black blade, it is extremely durable and also has immense strength.

Gecko Moria took Ryuma’s body and his sword before going to Thriller Bark (one of the best pirate ships in One Piece). And that’s where Zoro engaged in combat with Ryuma’s zombie and prevailed. Ryuma was so impressed with Zoro’s swordplay that he decided to give him his powerful sword. After Zoro’s adventures with this sword, once Zoro agreed to Hiyori’s proposal, the Shusui sword was ultimately sent directly to its rightful owner, Ryuma’s tomb.

9. Wado Ichimonji

Zoro’s childhood friend Kuina, a woman who often defeated him at the dojo, had this sword before Zoro. Furthermore, Zoro acquired the Wado Ichimonji from Kuina’s father Koushirou after Kuina’s unfortunate demise. From that day onwards, Zoro made a pledge to himself; aiming to become the greatest swordsman in the One Piece world.

As a result, Zoro’s collection of swords has always included the great Wado Ichimonji since the beginning. The sword rightfully belongs in the 21 Great Grade Meito (21 Great Grade Swords). If you are wondering who made this sword, Shimotsuki Kozaburo (Kuina’s grandpa) is the one who crafted it.

Nidai Kitetsu is one of the 21 Great Grade swords and that accounts for its great strength and superior sharpness. It’s even considered to be on par with swords like Enma, Ame no Habakiri, etc.

It was created by Kotetsu and passed on through generations. Now, it is safe in the hands of Sukiyaki. We are excited to find out who will get this sword during the end game, or will it remain idle in the hands of Sukiyaki? Only time will give us that answer.

11. Napolean

Big Mom’s sword is known as the Napolean. Technically, it is not a sword, it is a homie created from the soul fragment of Big Mom herself. This homie can take up the form of a sword and aids in combat. What’s so special about this sword is the fact that it can take up the form of any sword in existence. For example, Napolean can become a longsword or a cutlass as per the situation. Furthermore, the sword can also attack its own without the user and is also seen being wielded by Big Mom on various occasions.

It is a special type of sword we have seen and is one of the strongest swords in One Piece. So even though we don’t know about the grade of this sword, it deserves a place on our list. Big Mom’s battle against the worst generation of Pirates just recently reached its conclusion in the Wano arc, so it’s doubtful that we will see this sword in action anytime soon.

12. Raiu

• Meaning: Thunderstorm

Shiryu of the Rain is one of the members of the Blackbeard Pirates and his menacing powers are further augmented by this Raiu sword. Raiu is a simplistic sword, but the skills of Shiryu along with his devil fruit powers make this one of the strongest swords in the world of One Piece. Shiryu can perform his quick moves swiftly and clear the opponents in his way.

Other powers and abilities of this sword are currently unknown. But it is mentioned that it is difficult to handle this sword and it has been bathed in the blood of many people. Blackbeard Pirates are growing strong at a rapid rate and Shiryu will become an opponent to the ever-loved Straw Hat Pirate Zoro in the future.

13. Yubashiri

• Meaning: Snow Run, Snow Chaser
• Type: Katana
• Grade: Skillful Grade Blades (Ryō Wazamono)

One of the 50 skillful Grade Blades (superior swords) in One Piece is the Yubashiri. The Ipponmatsu family has had this sword for many years. Ipponmatsu made the decision to pass this blade down to Zoro for free after being impressed by his skill with a sword and his good fortune with the Sandai Kitetsu.

The Yubashiri was light and sharp enough to easily pierce a Sea Train carriage and was praised by Zoro for being a simple sword that was easy to use. Given it’s extremely lightweight, one should not mistake it for a weak sword. It was indeed a stronger one and one could take advantage of its light build and land fast attacks.

Even though this sword seems fantastic, Zoro didn’t have it for long. Unfortunately, Shu, a marine commander, destroyed it in the Enies Lobby arc. Shu boasts the Rust-Rust devil fruit powers, which gives him the ability to rust and harm whatever he came in contact with. As Zoro challenged him to a duel, Shu immediately used the abilities of his devil fruit to destroy the Yubashiri sword. This sword was laid to rest at the Rumbar Pirates’ graveyard on Thriller Bark. It’s sad to see such a good sword have an unfortunate ending.

14. Sandai Kitetsu

Sandai Kitetsu is the weakest sword among the other Kitesu swords. It is currently owned by Zoro. Compared to his other swords, Sandai Kitetsu (Kitetsu III) is rated as a grade blade (Wazamono), a grade lesser than his other swords as well as the other 2 Kitetsu swords. This sword was created by renowned Wano country wordsmith Kozuki Sukiyaki.

Zoro received this blade and the Yubashiri sword for free after impressing the weapons dealer Ipponmatsu in Logue Town. According to Zoro, this sword is said to be cursed (like all other Kitetsu swords) and would cause its possessor tragic death.

Even as a low-grade sword, it is one of the best in its class and was powerful enough. With Zoro’s swordsmanship skills, it elevated even further. The story of how Zoro got this sword is as follows: Zoro threw the cursed sword into the air while holding his arm out, trying his luck. He intended to test the sword’s ability to sever his arm. Yet in the end, Zoro triumphed, thanks to his good fortune, as the blade fell harmlessly on the ground.

This sword is considered to be a “Problem Child” by Zoro as the sharpness and bloodthirst of the Sandai Kitetsu are rather remarkable. Furthermore, Zoro has mastered using this sword and it proved its worth in his battle against Kaido and King recently.

15. Kashu
