A lot of wireless chargers are available in market for smartphones capable of wireless charging. The most widely used wireless charging standard for smart phones is Qi Standard (pronounced as chee). As more and more smartphones are coming out with wireless charging option, the conventional USB charging method is becoming outdated. But the major problem with wireless chargers is that they are expensive as compared to USB chargers. That’s where Nokia DT -900 wireless charger scores ahead of every wireless charger. The DT-900 charger from Nokia is not only affordable, but is compatible with most of the smartphones, It is durable and offers quality of Nokia accessories. The wireless charger is available in various color options.

This is hands on review of Nokia DT-900 Wireless charger White color.

What comes in the box

The moment you open the package of the charger, you will find a wireless charging plate with charging area and branding of Nokia. This is where you will rest your smartphone to charge. The charging plate has small socket to connect the power cord and one tiny LED indicator to show the charging status.

Along with the charging plate, you have 1.8 m long cable that you will use to connect the charging plate with the power adapter. You do get a user guide with instructions and indications printed in various language.

The box has a big power supply adapter that Nokia claims is energy-efficient. It has a small pin connector to connect the power cord and 2 pin connector to connect to external power supply or wall sockets.

Quality of the charger

Nokia has never disappointed with quality of their manufactured products and Nokia DT-900 wireless charger is no exception. The charger comes in funky colors like white, pink, yellow and blue to compliment its Lumia series of smartphones.

The charging plate is solid and looks pretty strong to withstand against accidental drops on floor etc. The power cord has good quality and so is the power adapter.

The LED indicator is visible and the light illuminates well to show charging status.

Functionality of the charger and charging time

The charger works well with Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. It doesn’t take much time for the nexus 4 and nexus 5 to recognize the charger and start charging. The charging plate is bit slippery, so you have to put the charger on the flat surface so that your nexus device charges properly.

As soon as you put your device on charging plate, the tiny LED at the charging plate glows. If the LED gives one long blink, it means the device has charged or is already charged. If the LED blinks often, then it means either the charger has a problem charging the phone or the phone doesn’t recognize it well.

The charger supports Qi charging standard hence the induction works within distance of 4 cm between the charging plate and smartphone. The device becomes a bit warm at the back but that’s normal and mentioned in the user guide. The charger can charge any Qi standard compatible charger including Lumia and Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 devices.

When It comes to charging a smartphone, It charges a standard smartphone with 2300 mAh battery in about 2-3 hours. It charged Nexus 5 from 5% to 100 % in about 2.5 hours (thanks to fast charging in Snapdragon 800 processors).

Nokia DT-900 is a good budget option to wireless charger for your smartphone and is available at a price as low as 2000 INR or 25- 50 USD though the listed MRP is 3900 INR.  The product has great quality and good value for money.
