As a smartphone owner and reviewer, I am constantly being surprised by the fact that every year the smartphone companies are able to pack more and more tech inside smartphones at very reasonable prices. Just take a look at the cameras the so-called budget devices pack. You are getting dual cameras, portrait mode, great low-light photography and much more. The cameras in budget smartphones are getting better at a faster pace than the ones in the flagship devices. These days, if you want a good camera phone, you don’t need to splurge a huge amount of money. In fact, you can find some really good camera phones under 20000 INR. Don’t believe me? Well, here are the 10 best camera phones under 20000 INR you can buy:
Best Camera Phones Under 20000 INR
1. Huawei P20 Lite
Huawei just launched three new smartphones in 2018, the P20, the P20 Pro and the P20 Lite. While the first two are flagship devices, the P20 Lite is priced just below INR 20,000 and is our first choice for this list. The Huawei P20 Lite packs a dual primary camera setup with a 16MP and 2 MP sensor. Not only the camera takes great daylight photos, but it also takes really great photos in low light, and don’t forget the portrait shots. I mean, just use this phone and you will be amazed by its camera quality.
The smartphone also packs a 24MP front-facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture which can take awesome selfies. What’s best is that it can also take portrait selfies and can execute the 3D portrait lighting effects, like the iPhone X. 3. Redmi Note 5 Pro
If there is one company which knows how to manufacture and sell quality smartphones at reasonable prices, it’s Xiaomi. Xiaomi dominates, the budget section of Indian smartphone market, and for good reasons. Their phones not only bring exceptional build quality and specs, but they also are really good camera phones. One of the best smartphones Xiaomi has ever made is their new Redmi Note 5 Pro which has everything that you can desire in a smartphone. Apart from bringing a 5.99-inch FHD+ screen, a 4000 mAh battery and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, the phone also packs exceptional cameras.
The primary camera in the Redmi Note 5 Pro packs a 12MP+5MP dual sensor with a 20MP shooter at the front. We have already reviewed the device and found the cameras to be really good. In fact, the smartphone has received quite a few updates after we reviewed the device which made the cameras even better. The daylight photography is great. The quality does suffer as the ambient light decreases, however, the results are still good. The smartphone can also take portrait shots with both back and front cameras and they are good enough. Overall, it’s not only a good camera phone but a great smartphone which checks all the right checkboxes.

4. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1
I had a lot of contradictory feelings when it came to including this smartphone on this list. The fact that it only costs INR 10,999 wanted me to keep it off the list, however, the device packs such a heavy punch when it comes to cameras that I could not keep if off the list. You can read all about its camera performance in our full review, however, the TLDR version is that the cameras on this phone gave a tough completion to the one on Redmi Note 5 Pro. Seeing how the phone costs 1/3rd of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, that is a huge achievement.
The phone that we reviewed came with a with a 13MP+5MP dual camera sensor at the back and a 8MP camera at the front. The primary camera took great daylight shots. Even the portrait mode shots came out great. However, the phone did suffered in lowlight conditions. Also, the front camera cannot compete with some of the other smartphones on this list. That said, seeing the price of this device, I really don’t have much complains. You should also consider the fact that the Zenfone Max Pro has a higher priced version which upgrades the cameras.

5. Mi 6X / Mi A2
Many stock Android fans have been waiting for a device from Xiaomi which brought stock Android experience in place of the MIUI interface which the company packs on its devices. Their prayers were answered with the launch of Mi A1 in India last year, and the smartphone sold like a hot cake. However, not many users know that the Mi A1 was already launched in China with the name Mi 5X. Why am I telling you all this you ask? Well, it’s because Xiaomi just launched the Mi 6X in China which will be coming as Mi A2 in India, later this month.
We already know that the Mi A2 will be packing a powerful 12MP+20MP dual camera combo. While the 20MP camera is using the Sony IMX376 sensor, the 12MP sensor is Sony IMX486 with f/1.75 aperture, large 1.25μm pixels. This means that the smartphone will not only take great low light pictures but it will also record videos at 4K. The smartphone will also bring a 20MP selfie camera, with the same Sony IMX376 sensor as the rear, and a flash on the front. With these specs and Xiaomi’s previous track record in mind, there’s no doubt that Mi A2 will be one of the best camera phones you can buy.

The bigger 12MP sensor will have a f/1.7 aperture and 1.4um pixel size which will help in lowlight photography. There’s also an 8MP front-facing camera which is nothing exceptional but will get the job done. It’s the primary camera setup that has us excited as not only it will be great for photos, but it will also be able to record videos at 4K. I won’t blame you if you want to wait for Moto G6 Plus to become your next camera phone.
