In two different polls that we conducted over Twitter, we saw that people are beginning to accept the notch. In our polls more than 39% of the respondent said that they were ready to buy the phones with notches. Whether you agree with this sentiment or not, 2018 is probably going to go down in the smartphone history as the year of the notch. We have already seen a couple of Android manufacturers coming out with a notched smartphone, and many have confirmed that their next flagship will come with a notch. Since the notch is here to stay, we thought of bringing you the best notched smartphones that have already, or are going to, hit the market. So, here are 10 best smartphones with notch you can buy:

Best Smartphones with Notch You can Buy Today

1. iPhone X

We would like to start our list with the smartphone which basically brought the notch trend into existence. When Apple launched the redesigned iPhone X to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the iPhone, apart from other cool things, the smartphone also brought the notch. Despite being ridiculed by many, iPhone X sold like hot cakes even when it was priced at a whopping $999 for the entry-level model. If you can afford it, iPhone X is probably the best-notched phone you can buy today. I am saying that because iPhone X’s notch is the only one which has a purpose.

1. iPhone X

The iPhone X’s notch packs the advanced FaceID technology which allows users to unlock their device by just looking at it. While Android has been offering face unlocking for quite a few years now, the iPhone X’s technology is far superior and secure. Apart from the notch, considering you are buying the most premium iPhone ever, you are also getting a beautiful 5.8-inch super retina display, along with A11 Bionic chip which is the most powerful mobile processor you can get. You are also getting one of the best smartphone cameras with portrait mode capabilities in both front and back. That being said, specs really don’t matter at this price point and all you should know that you are going to get a premium product if you are ready to pay the price.

2. Vivo V9

Vivo V9 is one of the first budget mid-range devices to embrace the notch. The smartphone brings an almost bezel-less 6.3” display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 (~400 PPI). Although the display utilizes an IPS LCD panel, it is really good with very good blacks and calibrated color profile. When it comes to power, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm MSM8953-Pro Snapdragon 626 processor and Adreno 506 GPU both of which are enough to handle the day-to-day task and can even tackle some of the most demanding games on the Play Store.

3. Vivo V9

It also packs a very good camera system with the primary setup comprising of a dual camera sensor (16MP+5MP). The secondary camera packs a 24MP sensor which is more than enough for all your selfie needs. Both cameras come packed with features including and not limited to AI face beauty, time-lapse photography, live photo, bokeh mode, AR sticker, shot refocus, ultra HD, and professional mode. Lastly, the smartphone also brings dual-SIM capabilities, support for expandable memory, 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone is bringing a lot of value for the price it is asking.

3. Oppo F7

Oppo F7 is a new notched smartphone from Oppo which is competing directly with Vivo V9. The smartphone brings a 6.23-inch FHD+ Display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The display is also protected as the F7 utilizes Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It’s being powered by MediaTek P60 Octa-Core 2.0 GHz processor and runs on the latest Android version, Android 8.1 Oreo. When it comes to cameras the Oppo F7 brings a 16MP primary camera with a 25 MP secondary shooter. It’s evident that just like Vivo V9, Oppo is focusing a lot on the selfie shooter.

4. Oppo f7

Other specifications include 64GB internal storage with microSD card support for extendable memory, 4GB of RAM, and a 3400 mAh battery. As you can see from the specs, it’s quite clear that Oppo F7 is directly competing with Vivo V9. That said, although Oppo F7 is a bit cheaper than Vivo V9, it also has just a single primary camera setup and uses MediaTek against Snapdragon processor. So, If you are planning to buy any of the two, do keep these things in mind.

4. Essential Phone

While iPhone X made the notch popular, it was not the first phone to embrace the notch. In fact, it was the Essential Phone which was the first phone to come out with a notch. Created by Andy Rubin who is also the creator of Android platform, the Essential phone promised to bring only the essential things. The phone packed an edge-to-edge bezel-less display with just a hint of bezels at the bottom. The Essential Phone also excelled at its build quality, as the smartphone packs a stainless steel frame and a ceramic back.

2. Essrntial Phone

However, despite packing the best hardware and an exceptional build quality, Essential Phone wasn’t a hit because it didn’t pack a camera worthy of a flagship device while it was priced like one. However, a couple of software updates and huge price cut later, Essential Phone has become an excellent choice for anyone looking to buy a sub $500 device. Priced at $499.99, the Essential Phone is a steal. Not only you are getting one of the best build quality you will ever find on a smartphone, you are also getting a stock Android experience with a promise of fast updates. It’s one of the best-notched smartphones you can buy today.

Talking about the lower-end model of the two, the Huawei P20 packs a 5.84-inch LCD display and is being powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 970 processor which is an octa-core processor with 4 2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 cores, and 4 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. 3. OnePlus 6

While the OnePlus 6 is still a couple of months away, CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the presence of notch on the device. Just a couple of days back, he also confirmed the initial specs of the device. On a blog on OnePlus’ forum, he wrote that the device will pack Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. He further said that OnePlus will focus on bringing the best performance which can add value to the user experience. Frankly, I am not excited for the device as I believe that OnePlus is losing its identity by copying Apple. That said, I also can’t deny the fact that OnePlus brings the best value for money in a smartphone, so if you want to wait for it, I don’t blame you.

Another brand that is embracing the notch this year is LG. Despite producing some really good smartphones in the past years, LG has not seen any success. Maybe that’s why the company is thinking that embracing the notch will change all that. To be truthful, LG has not released any statement about a notched smartphone, however, the recent leaks all but confirm the existence of notch on the smartphone. Rest of the specs should follow the standard routine with the Snapdragon 845, 4-6 GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and more.
