In two different polls that we conducted over Twitter, we saw that people are beginning to accept the notch. In our polls more than 39% of the respondent said that they were ready to buy the phones with notches. Whether you agree with this sentiment or not, 2018 is probably going to go down in the smartphone history as the year of the notch. We have already seen a couple of Android manufacturers coming out with a notched smartphone, and many have confirmed that their next flagship will come with a notch. Since the notch is here to stay, we thought of bringing you the best notched smartphones that have already, or are going to, hit the market. So, here are 10 best smartphones with notch you can buy:

Best Smartphones with Notch You can Buy Today

1. iPhone X

We would like to start our list with the smartphone which basically brought the notch trend into existence. When Apple launched the redesigned iPhone X to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the iPhone, apart from other cool things, the smartphone also brought the notch. Despite being ridiculed by many, iPhone X sold like hot cakes even when it was priced at a whopping $999 for the entry-level model. If you can afford it, iPhone X is probably the best-notched phone you can buy today. I am saying that because iPhone X’s notch is the only one which has a purpose.

Apple Assures That iPhone 8 and X Have Hardware Updates to Address Battery Issues

The iPhone X’s notch packs the advanced FaceID technology which allows users to unlock their device by just looking at it. While Android has been offering face unlocking for quite a few years now, the iPhone X’s technology is far superior and secure. Apart from the notch, considering you are buying the most premium iPhone ever, you are also getting a beautiful 5.8-inch super retina display, along with A11 Bionic chip which is the most powerful mobile processor you can get. You are also getting one of the best smartphone cameras with portrait mode capabilities in both front and back. That being said, specs really don’t matter at this price point and all you should know that you are going to get a premium product if you are ready to pay the price.

The front panel is a 6.28-inch full-HD+ Optic AMOLED display with a notch which is gorgeous. This year OnePlus has also improved its camera game. Despite seemingly packing the same dual 16MP (f/1.7, EIS & OIS) + 20MP (f/1.7) at the back and a 16 MP (f/2.0) processor at the front, the phone performs way better than its predecessors. It is one of the best smartphones in the market right now and if you are a notch lover, you should be thankful that OnePlus included the notch in its design.

5. Huawei P20 Pro

Just a few weeks back, Huawei released its new flagship for the year 2018, the Huawei P20 Pro. When it comes to the raw specs, the device brings Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 970 Kirin 970 processor, Mali-G72 MP12 GPU, 6GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage. Basically, this phone is a screamer and it can handle anything and everything that you can throw at it. One of my favorite parts of the Huawei P20 Pro is its design. The phone comes in some stunning colors which are very eye-catchy and definitely make this one stand out from the crowd. However, neither its design nor its power is the USP of the device.

Apart from your love of the notch, if you are thinking of buying this smartphone, it has to be for its cameras. To give you an idea about the phone’s camera performance, the P20 Pro scored 109 on DxO Mark beating Pixel 2 with a whopping 11 points. Huawei P20 Pro is going to be the camera to beat this year. As far as on paper specs are concerned, the triple camera module consists of a 40MP, a 20MP, and an 8 MP camera. The secondary camera is also a 24MP shooter which will give you some great selfies. Overall, if you want a smartphone which arguably has the best cameras, the best design, top-notch performance, and a notch, this is the phone you should get.

Although the display utilizes an IPS LCD panel, it is really good with very good blacks and calibrated color profile. When it comes to cameras the Oppo F7 brings a 16MP primary camera with a 25 MP secondary shooter. It’s evident that just like Vivo V9, Oppo is focusing a lot on the selfie shooter.

Smartphones with Notch Coming Soon

1. Mi 8 SE

Xioami’s new flagship for India, the Mi 8 SE, is about to be released in India and it’s one of the best mid-range flagship devices that you can buy. When it comes to the design and build quality, I feel that Xiaomi has knocked it out of the park with the Mi 8 SE. The smartphone’s glass sandwich design featuring a glass display and a glass back, which are held together by an aluminum frame, is pretty solid and the phone feels really good in the hand. The phone sports a big 5.88-inch Super AMOLED display which has a resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The display on this thing looks absolutely beautiful. There’s a ton of contrast and colors, text looks crisps, and pictures and videos just pop out. All that said, the probably the biggest USP of this device is its processor. The Mi 8 SE features the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset which is built on the company’s latest 10nm architecture.

Mi 8 SE Review

It’s the first smartphone in the world to feature a new processor and that makes it really unique. The processor not only brings 10-15% performance boost over the older 600-series processors but it also has other features including on-device AI support, improvements to the camera, and power efficiency. Coming to the cameras, the smartphone packs a 12MP (f/1.9) + 5MP (f/2.0) primary camera set up along with a 20MP (f/2.0) front-facing shooter. You should check our full review if you want to know how they perform in real-world situations, but the gist is that they perform really well in good lighting conditions but fail to impress as the ambient light start decreasing. The phone is coming to India in a couple of weeks and when it does, it will be one of the best mid-range devices that one can buy.

2. Nokia X6

Nokia has joined the notched smartphone craze with its recently announced Nokia X6 and it’s one of the best budget smartphones that you can buy. When it comes to the design, the Nokia X6 arguably is the best-looking budget device. I mean, it’s glass sandwich design featuring aluminum frame is something which is not found in the budget segment. I also love Nokia X6’s display as the device brings a big 5.8 full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, which thanks to the notch, is cramped inside a fairly manageable form-factor. Nokia X6 is no slouch when it comes to power either. The device brings the Snapdragon 636 chipset, which it pairs with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage.

nokia x6

Nokia X6 also wins big points in the camera department. On paper, the Nokia X6 brings a dual rear-camera system with a 16MP (f/2.0) primary sensor and 5MP (f/2.2) secondary sensor along with a 16MP (f/2.0) selfie shooter. While you will have to wait for our full review to get the final assessment, the first impression of the cameras is quite good. Overall, I am quite happy with the phone and I believe that this phone will surely give Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro a run for its money, as it is supposed to be launched in the same price range. The device has already been released in China and will be coming to India very soon.
