Most people think that X-23 was created for comics, but that’s not the case. Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost created the potent superheroine for X-Men: Evolution, an animated television series released in 2003. Later, the character was introduced to the world of comic books, with the NYX issue 3 being her debut.

X-23’s real name is Laura Kinney, who is also known as Wolverine’s clone in the comics. An organization called Facility tried to create Wolverine’s clone using his DNA. However, after the experiments failed 22 times, the company’s Genetist Sarah Kinney proposed an idea that stated they should try creating a female clone. Even though her proposal was rejected initially, Sarah didn’t stop and mixed her own genetic material with the Wolverine’s DNA to proceed further with the process. Eventually, her superiors agreed, and she ended up creating X-23.

X-23 was used as a weapon for several years until Sarah helped her escape the Facility. After departing the organization’s premises, X-23 went directly to Wolverine, intending to kill him. However, seeing his caring gestures, X-23 had a change of heart. Wolverine then helped her enroll in Xavier Institute, making her train harder and hone her combat skills. The encounter with Wolverine changed her entire life and made her a superhero. Later, it was also revealed that she was not a female clone of Wolverine but his biological daughter.

Laura Kinney, aka X-23, spent most of her early life in captivity, where she was used as a private assassin. She was trained to be an asset and not a liability. Besides that, being the biological daughter of Wolverine, she also possesses some significant powers that make her a dangerous foe to the enemies.

1. Spectacular Healing Ability

Being Wolverine’s daughter, how can X-23 not boast an impressive healing ability? She can recover quickly, no matter how fatal the wound is. Besides that, she can also reattach broken body parts such as the hand or the leg. The healing factor also strengthens her immunity and helps her remain unaffected by poisons and other deadly diseases.

2. Claws

Like her father, X-23 can also extend and retract bone claws from her arms and feet at will. The bone claws often tear her skin, but with her healing ability, X-23 can heal the wounds. Besides that, the claws prove to be a weapon that she can use to pierce the flesh of any enemy.

3. Strong Psychic Defenses

X-23 cannot be attacked with psychic abilities as she has proved her resistance towards such strikes. For example, she successfully overwhelmed Mr. Sinister when he tried to take control of her body.
