How to Use Google Lens on PC

In Short
  • There's no standalone Google Lens app for PC, but the feature is integrated into the Google Chrome browser.
  • You can use Google Lens by right-clicking on an image on Chrome and using the "Search image with Google" option.
  • Another way to do it is opening a new tab and clicking on the Google Lens icon.

Google Lens can be used effortlessly on an Android or iPhone, but a standalone app isn’t available for PCs, mostly because PCs don’t need one. However, Google Lens is integrated with an extremely popular Google product we all use, i.e., Google Chrome. In this guide, let’s look at a few ways you can use Google Lens on a PC using Google Chrome.

Method 1: Using Lens From Chrome’s Home Screen

The home tab houses the Google search bar alongside voice search, Google Lens, and page shortcuts. It’s one of the easiest ways to use Google Lens on a PC.

  1. Click on the plus + icon to open a new tab.
  2. On the Chrome homepage, click on the Google Lens icon within the search bar.
  3. Click on upload a file and then select an image from your computer.
  4. You can also drag and drop the image on to the “Search any image with Lens” box.
  5. Alternatively, you can also add a link to the image inside the Paste image link box and click on Search.
  6. Google Lens will then scan the contents of the image and show you the exact matches from the internet.
  7. Similar to Google Lens on Android and iPhone, it can help you select the text in the screenshot or Translate it.

Pro tip: You can adjust the boundaries of the search area to search for a particular object from the screenshot on the web.

Method 2: By Right-Clicking on an Image in Chrome

Chrome’s right-click menu comes packed with different options, including the option to search images with Google, which uses Google Lens to search the image. Here’s how to use it.

  1. Right-click on an image and then click the Search image with Google option.
  2. This should open the Google Lens side menu with all the possible search results, including options such as Search, Text, and Translate.
  3. You can adjust the search area, select text to search, or copy it and translate it from different languages.

You can readjust the Lens area and make it bigger by dragging it outwards from the middle. Unfortunately, the PC version of Google Lens via Chrome misses out on the Homework function, which works great on the Google Lens mobile app.
