- The Boys Season 5 could give Soldier Boy a redemption arc.
- In the series, we are told that Sodier Boy started working for Vought like he did after being continuously dismissed by his father, and gradually turned into what we see him as.
- In The Boys Season 5, we could see Soldier Boy protect Ryan from Homelander's influence since Ryan has no one to go to.
When we talk about The Boys, most of the supes we see are inherently morally twisted, but some of the morally grey supes we see on our screens turned out the way they are simply because of circumstances. One of the biggest examples of this is the original Black Noir. While he was not a hero exactly, most of what he did originated from the fear of Homelander. Now, when we talk about Soldier Boy, he might not be a hero, but yet again, he turned out the way he did because of the circumstances he explained in The Boys Season 3. Now, with the Boys Season 5 approaching us, the current setting of the characters and the direction of the plot offer Soldier Boy a chance to be the hero he wanted to be, and here’s how.
Soldier Boy Was Not Always the Way He Is Portrayed in The Boys

When Soldier Boy was introduced to us, he was not exactly portrayed as the hero. However, he opened up to Butcher and told him that his father was always dismissive of him, and when he heard about Vought turning people into superheroes, he joined the trail to become a hero and win the approval of his father.
Nevertheless, his father dismissed him once again and said that he had taken a shortcut. This event drove him to do whatever Vought told him to do because he thought that they appreciated him, and the world loved him because of them, hence turning him into the insufferable supe we are familiar with at the moment.
The Boys Season 5 Could Give Soldier Boy a Redemption Arc to Make Him the Hero He Aspired to Be
As we have already seen in The Boys Season 4, Homelander is now aware that Soldier Boy is alive, and we all know that Homelander will never wake up Soldier Boy on his own will. So, there is a good chance that somehow, he will wake up and break out of imprisonment.
Now, let’s take a look back at Season 4, Ryan killed Grace Mallory, which led Butcher on a homicidal quest. Now, Butcher wants to kill Ryan, Mallory is dead, and the only person Ryan can turn to is Homelander, which is exactly what Homelander has wanted since the very beginning.
It is very possible that Homelander will start molding Ryan in his image and try to turn him into his successor. Since Soldier Boy hates Homelander and Butcher both, there is little to no chance that he might join the side of either of them. However, what he could do is protect Ryan from Homelander’s influence, the classic “One thing I did right” arc, in The Boys’ own twisted manner. Maybe he does it so that there could not be another Homelander, but it is a possibility worth considering. So, what do you think? Let us know in the comments!
