The Boys Season 5 is probably one of the most sought-after series finales of all time. Considering how season 4 ended, there is a lot of commotion regarding how the story will unfold in The Boys Season 5. However, a recent interview with Eric Kripke has surfaced that points toward a potential comic-accurate ending. Even though not exactly like the comics, it could be similar and what Kripke said makes it even more obvious.
Eric Kripke Confirms a Lot of Potential Deaths in The Boys Season 5
One of the interviews Eric Kripke had with Total Films has pointed towards a lot of deaths that could be a part of The Boys Season 5. He expressed the pressure he feels while working on this project taking into consideration the hopes and expectations people have from it. In his statement, he said-
“There will probably be lots of deaths … So many series finales suck … I feel lots and lots of pressure to end it well … if we can stick the landing then people will be like, ‘that was a great show’ … but if we shit the bed, people will say, ‘Oh, it was a good show, but then they shit the bed,’ There’s no guarantee of who is going to survive because you don’t have to keep them for another season … we can have really shocking, big things happen all the time”
With that being said, there is a lot of potential for who can live and who can die but wait, with this statement, Eric Kripke could have just given us a cue for how this series can end on a comic-accurate note. Let me explain how.
The Boys Comic Ends With a Lot of Deaths
One thing I like about The Boys is how true it stays to its source material. Be it the unhinge-ness or be it the gore, the show does not shy away from showing us the worst possible things in the best possible ways. So far, The Boys has followed the same basic storyline but has changed certain elements and has taken their artistic liberty with how the story is carried out on screen.
The Boys comic ending showed us the death of all the lead protagonists except Hughie. Homelander dies and Black Noir kills him and in turn, Black Noir is killed by Butcher. After that Butcher gets his hands on a virus to kill all supes in the world and when the other members of The Boys try to stop him, he kills off Frenchie, The Woman (Kimiko), and Mother’s Milk. By the end of the story, Butcher is killed by none other than Hughie. That indeed is a lot of deaths but how is the live-action series moving towards the same ending?
Butcher Has Lost His Mind, Has Venom-Like Powers, and Os Out for Blood
By the end of The Boys Season 4, we see that after Butcher witnesses Ryan kill Grace. The little faith he had left in supes fades away with each step Ryan takes away to go back to Homelander. He lets his sentient cancer aka Joe Kessler take over and is ready to commit a mass homicide of supes. He goes to the Boys’ safehouse and as soon as he sees Victoria Neuman, Butcher uses his powers and splits her into two killing off Victoria. He then takes the supe-killing virus and drives off to start on his path to rid the world of supes for good.
Even though this is not the same thing that happened in the comics, it is on the same trajectory of turning Butcher into a murder machine for supes. On top of that, all the members of the Boys except Starlight have been captured by Vought so there is no one to stand in his way. However, in the comics, Homelander is killed by his clone created by Vought and it looks like that story is being set up as well.
The New Black Noir Could be Homelander’s Clone
We all know that Black Noir was killed off by Homelander in The Boys Season 3. However, in The Boys Season 4, a new Black Noir was brought back with someone new in the suit. However, we have no idea where he is from, or what his name is, and on top of that, we have no idea regarding the extent of his powers.
By the final few episodes of The Boys Season 4, we saw that when A-Train, Butcher, and Starlight fought against The Deep and Black Noir, it turns out that Black Noir can fly as well. This could be a subtle hint towards him being a clone of Homelander on a mission to take him down when he has to. The mystery surrounding this new character is something that can lead to a comic-accurate death of Homelander.
Comic Accurate Ending Is Being Set Up
The way things were going on in The Boys Season 4, we all had our suspicions regarding the direction The Boys Season 5 was going to take. The story and plotline made it seem as if we would have a comic-accurate ending. However, with Eric Kripke’s new statement, and the cues I have mentioned above, we could see the entire team of The Boys die at the hands of Butcher and Butcher being killed by the most nonviolent of them all, Hughie.
