When Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 855 Plus, Redmi vowed that it would soon launch a smartphone powered by this souped-up flagship chipset. Well, we didn’t expect Redmi to launch a smartphone so soon, but the Chinese giant today refreshed its first-ever flagship – Redmi K20 Pro with the Snapdragon 855 chipset in tow.
Specs and Features
Not much has changed on the design and hardware front in this Exclusive Edition variant, except for under-the-hood upgrades. Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition is powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, where the primary core is overclocked to 2.96GHz and its Adreno 640 GPU is now overclocked to 672MHz clock speed.
The chipset aboard Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition is coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, making the device stand tall amongst all of our flagship competitors out there. Another important upgrade will have to be the inclusion of the huge 27W fast-charger right inside the box itself. This means you will be able to charge the 4,000mAh battery Exclusive Edition quickly and easily.
Apart from these upgrades, you’ll still get the same 6.39-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED display, which is bezel-less and doesn’t feature any notch. The triple rear-camera setup remains the same with a 48MP primary sensor, 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens. There’s a 20MP (f/2.2) pop-up selfie camera onboard as well.
Price and Availability
The new Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition has been priced starting at 2,699 yuan (around Rs. 27,250) for the 8GB+128GB variant. The other models are 8GB+512GB and 12GB+512GB, which will be retailing at 2,999 yuan (around Rs. 30,000) and 3,199 yuan (around Rs. 32,000) respectively.
The highest-end 12GB+512GB variant will initially retail at a special introductory price of 2,999 yuan. We cannot wait for Xiaomi to bring this variant to India, offering users even more power and features for a reasonable price. What is your opinion on this new Redmi K20 Pro variant?
