In this event, Roblox’s CEO David Baszucki revealed new features coming to Roblox, including dating, voice calling, and more. When Is Roblox Coming on PS4 and PS5?
Roblox initially launched on Windows in 2006 and since then has found its way to various other platforms. Roblox is already available on Android, iOS, and Xbox One. Back in 2022, Roblox job listings hinted at the company looking to hire people for PlayStation-related roles. The description for the job listing revealed that the PlayStation software engineer will be tasked with building and supporting the Roblox game engine on PlayStation consoles.
Furthermore, during the earnings call in August, Baszucki expressed how Roblox wants to explore more platforms and be available to users globally. Answering a press question regarding Roblox availability on Nintendo Switch & PlayStation consoles, Baszucki said. “We of course have our eyes on those platforms, and stay tuned.”
Well, there’s a reason Baszucki didn’t give a conclusive answer. At RDC 2023 in September, the company officially confirmed that Roblox will launch on PS4 and PS5 in October 2023. The exact release date for the launch of Roblox on the PlayStation is yet to be revealed, but at least, we now have an idea when it’s coming.
With the official release, PS5 and PS4 users will be able to “access the full catalog of Roblox experiences” on their consoles. This means you can log in and start playing your favorite games like Blox Fruits or Bad Business whenever Roblox is available on the PlayStation consoles.
Is Roblox Coming to Nintendo Switch?
On the other hand, Roblox hit a million downloads on the Meta Quest VR headset after it was launched as a ‘public beta’ earlier this year. It will be officially available on the Meta Quest later this September. But, what about the Nintendo Switch?
Speaking of a potential Nintendo Switch release, a Roblox spokesperson (via The Verge) mentioned there are no “imminent plans” to make their popular social and gaming app available on Nintendo Switch. However, the spokesperson added that they want Roblox to be available on all the platforms, so a future release is not out of the question. On stage at RDC 2023, Baszucki teased the same saying that Roblox will expand to more places, so stay tuned.
