We all know the OnePlus 7 is on the way, and if history is anything to go by, it will be one of the best phones in its price bracket. While there have been a number of leaks around the phone, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has now actually started teasing the device on social media — a solid hint that it’s coming really soon.
Pete Lau took to Twitter for the tease, which is basically a very short, 5 second video. The tease doesn’t really give a lot away, but it does have a new tagline that says “Fast and Smooth.” and Pete says in the tweet “Excited to share the next product from OnePlus will unleash a new era of Fast and Smooth. Especially Smooth! Smooth is more challenging than Fast – a true test of hardware and software. The new product is just beautiful – I can’t wait for you to see it!”
Clearly, OnePlus is aiming at an even better software experience to make the phone smoother than ever before, while still sticking true to OnePlus’ philosophy of making phones that are one of the fastest in the industry.
The tweet, while not giving away much, did show off part of a phone with a curved display, which we’re expecting to be the OnePlus 7 Pro. According to leaks and rumors about the phones, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be the first OnePlus phone with a QHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Tipster Ishan Aggarwal also said that the phone will come with a 4,000 mAh battery, a USB v3.1 Type C port and 30W fast charging that OnePlus has dubbed ‘Warp Charge’ with the OnePlus 6T. The phone is also expected to come with dual speakers, and a triple rear camera.
As far as the specs are concerned, these are all based on leaks and rumors so take them with a pinch of salt, if you will. Still, one can be pretty confident that the new phones will come with flagship specs including the Snapdragon 855, upto 10 (or maybe even 12GB) of RAM, and 256GB storage. We’re yet to see a launch date confirmation about the OnePlus 7, but reports are suggesting a May 14 launch date for the new flagship.
