Xiaomi announced the MIUI 10 Global ROM in New Delhi at its Redmi Y2 launch event yesterday, and now, the company has invited volunteers to test the software before it is rolled out to users around the world.
Interested users will need to apply by June 11, and the company says that it will inform the selected applicants on June 12.
Only are handful of Xiaomi devices will be eligible for the new software to start off with, including the Mi 6, Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX 2S, Redmi S2 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro (India)/Redmi Note 5, but the company has already announced that the update will hit more devices in the months to come.
Xiaomi started rolling out a closed beta of MIUI 10 China Developer ROM for select smartphones earlier this month.
How to Apply to be a MIUI 10 Global Beta Tester
1. Download and install the MIUI Global Forum app from the Play Store if you don’t already have it on your device. Open it up, and on the landing page of the app, tap on Recruitment.
2. Fill out the required details on the next page, and then click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the application process.
That’s it. The job’s done from your end, so you’ll now have to hope that you’re one of the lucky ones to be picked by Xiaomi for the beta test.
Do note, though, that the software is still in its beta-testing stage, so there will be more bugs than you normally find in stable versions, like we experienced with the Redmi Y2’s beta for MIUI 10. So think long and hard if you’re planning to install this on your daily driver.
