The iPhone X was the world’s best selling smartphone in the last quarter of 2017, with Apple managing to ship over 29 million units. However, despite those amazing figures, late last month reports suggested that the company was cutting back on iPhone X orders due to weak demand.

Now, according to the latest research figures from Strategy Analytics’ Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT) service, the iPhone X was, once again, the best selling smartphone in the world in Q1 2018. The report reveals that global smartphone shipments reached 345.4 million units in the first quarter of this year and despite reports suggesting weak demand, Apple managed to ship an impressive 16 million units of the iPhone X. Apple’s flagship device captured 5 percent of the total market.

The iPhone X was closely followed by the iPhone 8, with Apple selling 12.5 million units of the device. The iPhone 8 Plus took the third spot on Strategy Analytics’ list, with 8.3 million units shipped in Q1 2018.  Interestingly, the previous generation iPhone 7 still managed to make it to the list and took the fourth spot with 5.6 million units sold in the same time period.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus were the top-selling Android smartphones, with the respective companies shipping 5.4 million and 5.3 million units of the devices.
