I’m Calling It, This iPhone 16 Pro Max Color Will Be the Bestseller

In Short
  • Apple's new iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models come in a variety of colorways, among which one really stands out.
  • The Desert Titanium variant has a different and unique appeal to it, offering shades of gold with dark bronze-colored edges.
  • This colorway has some resemblance to the Gold versions of the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 11 Pro.

The latest line of Apple’s mobile devices are now out with the new iPhone 16 lineup. As is the case with any new iPhone, they get new shades to distinguish themselves from devices of yesteryears. If you’ve already made up your mind and are going with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, then it’s time to make the most important decision – choosing a color.

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max can be purchased in four different colorways. You get the traditional Black Titanium and White Titanium colors. Both of them offer a clean, sophisticated look with solid black and white glass panels respectively. And then, there’s the Natural Titanium color, which offers a muted gray tone to preserves the elegance of the Black and White finishes but with a more organic feel to it.

While all three of these colors gives a sense of premium appeal, there’s one color shade that definitely stands out. Yes, we’re talking about the new Desert Titanium model, which replaces the Blue Titanium variant on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The subtle naming comes from the earthy shade that appears more bronze-esque than a conventional golden finish. This finish is deeper and more vibrant than any colorways that Apple has introduced to the Pro Max models in the past.

Since the Pro Max models haven’t gone through major rear design changes in the last couple of years, the only thing that differentiates these models are their colorways. And this year’s Desert Titanium is what gives away that you own the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

While we’ve seen Gold colored models on older iPhones, this particular shade is unlike any other color Apple has introduced. The company last released a Gold model with the iPhone 14 Pro/Max, but that variant looked more yellow than gold.

This is closer to the Gold versions of the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone XS Max than its recent siblings. To complement this dense color on the rear, the iPhone 16 Pro Max gets even darker brown edges. These edge are now glossier, since Apple is using a new titanium processing technique. This gives the new Pro Max models, the look and appeal of Stainless Steel models (like on the iPhone 14 Pro Max) with same, if not better, durability of titanium (iPhone 15 Pro Max).

With a deeper, more solid hue, Desert Titanium could be the desired option for people of various tastes. This also indicates changes in Apple’s philosophy and its transition from brighter colors to aesthetic, bolder looks. What do you think about the all new colorways on the iPhone 16 Pro Max?
