How to Download a Facebook Video on Desktop

One of the best ways to download Facebook videos on PC was by replacing the “www” in the URL with “mbasic.” It was a lightweight version of Facebook made for older devices. However, Meta (Facebook’s parent company) phased mbasic out in October last year, citing security reasons. Therefore, the method no longer works. And now the easiest way to save videos from Facebook is by using third-party websites like Snapsave.

  1. Head over to the SnapSave.app website.
  2. Copy the video link from Facebook by clicking on the 3-dots icon and selecting Copy link.

How to Download a Facebook Video on Android and iPhone

Besides using a third party website, there are a couple of more ways to download Facebook videos on an Android device. Unfortunately, iPhone users will have to suffice with method 2 from the guide above to download videos from Facebook.

Method 1: Download Video Using Facebook Website

You can download a Facebook video directly from the browser on Android. This process is much safer than going to third-party websites, and is also much quicker.

  1. Open Facebook (website) a web browser on your phone and navigate to the video.
  2. Long-press on the video for more options and tap on Download video. The video should then start downloading.
  3. Once downloaded, you can find it in the Downloads directory of your Android device, using a File Manager or simply tap on Open when the download is successful.

Method 2: Download Facebook Video Using a Third Party App

There are many apps on the Play Store that can help you get the videos in a jiffy. One of them is ahafast. However, most of them have ads, so it will be annoying to get around without watching a couple of ads.

  1. Install ahafast video downloader from the Play Store (website).
  2. Now, open Facebook (website) and copy the video’s link by going to the 3-dots icon > Copy link.
  3. Launch the ahafast app on your phone and tap on the Home tab.
  4. Here, paste the copied link inside the text box and tap on Download.
