Google Play Store Finally Lets You Download Multiple Apps at Once

It’s been a while since Google started working on the ability to download multiple apps simultaneously on the Play Store. And it looks like it’s finally available and rolling out widely. Here’s how it works and everything you need to know.

One of the major gripes that many users had with Android was the Play Store’s inability to download multiple apps because it would save a lot of time. Google did hear that complaint and started working on the feature that would let users do just that. However, it looks like the feature was quite low on Google’s features priority lists, due to which it’s took five years to implement it.

We tested it out on our Pixel 6 and OnePlus 12R. We found out that the feature is still limited to downloading two apps at once. Downloading more than two puts the last app in pending state. When that happens, the new app starts downloading after one of the first two apps is installed.

You would hope that Google would’ve rolled out the feature for app updates too after working on it for five years. The feature only works for new installs and downloads, at most two apps simultaneously. This means, you cannot set two apps on updates at once, unlike new app downloads.

We hope these limitations are a result of Google’s initial testing of the feature. And that Google fully rolls out the feature to app updates and increases the app download limit.

The Google Play Store has improved immensely over the years. And we hope Google soon adds the previously “leaked in testing” feature, which allows users to remotely uninstall apps from other Android devices on the same Google account.
