The God of War Trilogy Remake has no release window yet. It was revealed during the February State of Play as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebration. However, it is still in very early development, as stated by the original voice of Kratos, Terrence C. Carson.

With God of War being the frontman of PlayStation exclusives, it is possible that the Trilogy remake only arrives on PS5. Given Sony’s current strategy, a PlayStation 5 release is logical with a PS5 Pro games enhancement. We can also expect a possible PC version later on. For now, Santa Monica Studio is keeping details close to the chest.

This project revisits the original Greek saga that started with God of War on PlayStation 2 in March 2005. It will remake the full trilogy, including God of War II and God of War III.

While those games received HD remasters in the past, this remake promises a much deeper overhaul. At the moment, Santa Monica Studio has only shared a teaser with a logo and a brief message from TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos during the Greek era. No gameplay footage has been shown.

What Could Change?

Since development is in its early stages, gameplay details are unknown. Still, it is reasonable to expect modernized combat systems, updated visuals, and possibly redesigned level structures. The original trilogy was known for fixed camera angles, brutal combo-driven combat, and large-scale boss fights. Whether the remake keeps that structure or shifts toward the over-the-shoulder style introduced in 2018 remains to be seen.

Santa Monica Studio has stated that this remake has been one of the most requested projects from fans. The team has asked for patience and promised that when the next update arrives, it will be significant.

God of War Trilogy Remake Price Speculation

Sony has not announced a price for the God of War Trilogy Remake, but we can make an educated guess based on past releases. Recent first-party remakes, such as The Last of Us Part I remake, launched at $69.99 on PlayStation 5.

Meanwhile, premium PC ports of major titles have also carried full price tags. On the other hand, collections and remasters in previous generations, including the older God of War HD collections, launched at lower price points.

Since this project is described as a full remake rather than a remaster, a $69.99 price on PS5 seems likely. If Sony positions it as a premium anniversary package with all three games rebuilt under one unified system, it could justify that top-tier pricing. A PC release, if it follows later, would probably match that range.

There is also a small chance Sony could bundle the trilogy at a slightly reduced rate, perhaps in the $59.99 range, if the studio aims to make it a broader entry point for new players before the next mainline installment. That remains speculation for now.

For now, the message is simple. Kratos’ rage-fueled journey through Greek mythology is being rebuilt from the ground up. It may take time, but the Ghost of Sparta is not done with Olympus just yet.
