- Fable's new teaser ahead of Gamescom reveals a redesigned female character from their first showcase.
- The new female character design has softer facial features with a more traditionally attractive face.
- The change likely came to address the negative marketing the game had after the reveal of its first teaser.
Xbox has teased a small clip of Fable ahead of Gamescom on their socials, and it shows a vastly redesigned female character. Fable’s female character redesign likely came to address their biggest criticism yet.
From the very start, players have been complaining about how weird the female character looked in the game’s first teaser. Later, Fable showcased that players would be able to create their own characters, which removed some of the concerns from players. However, that initial image continued to haunt Fable, as many would bring it up to badmouth the game’s release.
Fable Revamps Its Female Character Design, Opting for a Softer and More Attractive Look

Xbox seems to have finally decided to change it and has completely redesigned the female character for the upcoming Xbox Gamescom lineup. In their little clip shared, players easily spotted the new female character, and her new features didn’t take time to spread in the community.
The new female character has much softer facial features, fewer freckles, and overall looks much more appealing. The change might be part of Xbox’s new drive to make sure their games succeed. Negative marketing has been one of the big problems many games have been facing nowadays before launch, and Xbox clearly wanted to avoid it for Fable.
The reaction of gamers towards the new face has been more than positive. One user replied to Xbox’s thread saying they would be pre-ordering the game today just because of this change. The reception seemed to be reciprocated by others as well. If Xbox was planning for more positive coverage, then they definitely made the correct call before Gamescom.
There has been a debate for some time now on how some developers are deliberately trying to have worse-looking characters for their games. Sometimes, the blame does look fitting, while at other times it feels hollow. For Fable, the blame was pretty spot on, but when the same was said about God of War Laufey, I couldn’t have denied it more.
But one thing is clear: game developers must have these conversations now before they plan to showcase their game, whatever their decision may be. So, what’s your opinion on Fable’s new female character redesign? Tell us in the comments below.
