State-owned telecom giant, BSNL, has extended its ‘Monsoon Offer’, which was originally launched in June to compete with the various deals and discounts being offered by Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and of course, Reliance jio.The company has announced that the offer will now be available for all users until September 15.
According to Telecom Talk, the offer is valid on all major prepaid plans, including the Rs. 186, Rs. 429, Rs. 485, Rs. 666, and Rs. 999 vouchers. It will also be available with all the special tariff vouchers (STVs) that were part of the original promo, including the Rs. 187, Rs. 333, Rs. 349, Rs. 444, and Rs. 448 plans. It’s worth noting that not all the above plans are available in all circles.
Introduced last June, the Monsoon Offer was initially announced as a 60-day promo that allocated 2GB of extra data per day for users over and above all the existing benefits. The offer went live on pan-India basis on June 18, and was available on all the aforementioned prepaid packs and STVs.
With the Monsoon Offer, the daily data limit of the Rs. 189 plan goes up to 3GB from 1GB with a validity period of 30 days. Similarly, the Rs. 444 tariff plan, which originally offered 4GB of daily data for a period of 60 days, will now bring up to 6GB of data per day for the same validity period.
All the aforementioned plans offer 100 SMSes each day and unlimited local and national (STD) voice calls on all networks without any restrictions, unlike the plans offered by Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. Unlike the private telco’s, though, BSNL doesn’t offer 4G network in most regions around the country, having only rolled out its 4G network in Kerala earlier this year.
