Best Apple Watch Faces for watchOS 26 and Later

With watchOS 26, Apple has introduced several new watch faces and enhanced some existing ones. And instantly, these have become my new favorites to dilly dally around with on my Apple Watch. Here, check them out:

Flux: The Stunning Newcomer (Best for: Dynamic Displays)

Flux is one of the iconic watch faces that arrived with watchOS 11, and it’s absolutely stunning, especially when used with the Series 10, as I have been doing. The watch face shows the time in big, bold numbers, along with a fill-up effect to show the passing seconds. You can choose from a number of color variations, or choose the Dynamic color option for a more colorful look.

If you’re using it with a new Apple Watch Series 10, the seconds animation works even in the always-on display thanks to LTPO 3, and for other Apple Watches, the AOD screen still looks big and beautiful and shows you the time at a glance. Personally, I like using the outline-only style, as you can see in the screenshot, because it just looks cleaner.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic seconds animation
  • Supports multiple numeral styles (Arabic, Eastern Arabic, Devanagari)
  • Can pick custom color themes
  • Designed to take advantage of the Apple Watch Series 10 display and above

Complications:

  • Not supported

Flow: Minimalist and Fluid (Best for: Simple Elegance)

Flow is my go to Watch Face for most casual days when I don’t want to put in much effort to check the time. Plus, it also feels like the most visually calming new watch faces in watchOS. The large numbers are surrounded by fluid, shifting colors that react subtly when you move your wrist.

It also takes advantage of the new liquid glass design, showing the transparency effect in the numerical bubbles. But to make the most of it, you need one of the newer Apple Watches. There are also no complications supported here, but if you just want a minimal option that looks great, then this is the best Apple Watch face to go for after Flux.

Key Features:

  • Liquid Glass numerals with fluid color animation
  • Large, easy-to-read time display
  • Custom colors options
  • Optional background toggle

Complications:

  • Not supported

Exactograph: Precision Time-Telling (Best for: Unique Style)

Exactograph is another one of the new watchOS 26 faces that I typically switch to during more formal occasions. It is inspired by traditional chronograph watches, separating hours, minutes, and seconds into different dials for more precise time reading.

It does look a little complex at first, but after using it for a few days, I have grown used to it and can tell the time just by glancing at it. Plus, tapping a dial expands it for easier viewing, which is a clever touch. The always-on display mode looks great on it. I would have ranked California or GMT higher, but this new design gives a Rolex-style aesthetic.

Key Features:

  • Separate hour, minute, and second dials
  • Can tap to enlarge individual dials
  • Multiple color and style customizations
  • One of the better watch faces in watchOS 26

Complications:

  • Upto 4 complications supported
  • Includes 3 Watch styles

Photos: Your Memories on Your Wrist (Best for: Personalization)

Photos is not my personal favorite watch face, but many people adore it as it allows you to keep your precious moments on your wrist. It cycles through your favorite photos or selected memories, and a new image appears every time you raise your wrist, which keeps things fresh throughout the day.

watchOS 26 has also changed the layout to improve readability with transparent or Liquid Glass-style numbers. These blend better with the background and obstruct less of the image itself. It is not the most functional, but for memories and aesthetics, it remains a favorite.

Key Features:

  • Displays photos from selected albums
  • The image changes automatically when you raise your wrist
  • Time overlay looks better in watchOS 26
  • You can zoom and change the positioning of the photo

Complications:

  • Supports 2 complications
  • Upto 7 watch styles
  • Multiple color options available

Top Faces for Data and Productivity

If you don’t want a basic watch face and are looking for something that shows you as much information as possible at a glance, then you can try out Infograph, Modular, and more.

Infograph: The Ultimate Data Lover’s Face (Best for: Maximum Information)

One of my personal favourite Apple Watch faces, and the one you’d likely see me sporting on my watch most often, is the Infograph watch face. It brings a total of eight complications to the screen, which means there’s a ton of information on here, which is great for me.

Some people might find this to be too loaded with information, and if that’s the case, you can either choose a different watch face or turn off some of the complications. Personally, I even use some of these complications as quick-launchers for third-party Apple Watch apps. Infograph is also the best watch face for exercise enthusiasts because you can add complications for all your workout-related apps and features.

Key Features:

  • Analog dial with rich customization options
  • Supports up to eight complications
  • Multiple colors and style options
  • Great for productivity and dense information preferences

Complications:

  • Upto 8 complications supported
  • 4 outer, 4 inner dial complications

Modular Ultra: Powerhouse for Apple Watch Ultra (Best for: Ultra Users)

If you have an Apple Watch Ultra or Ultra 2, then you should definitely try out the Modular Ultra watch face. This is an exclusive variant of the Modular watch face, which brings so much information. Plus, you can customise the bezel to show information like the seconds, depth, elevation, and even training load.

Modular Watch Face watchOS 26 setup screen side by side

In terms of customization, you can change the clock type to show hours and minutes, or a variety of hour: minute: seconds styles. You can also enable or disable the night mode, and choose from an almost never-ending list of color options, or even add your own custom colors for the watch face.

Key Features:

  • Large digital time display for easier readability
  • Data-heavy layout for productivity
  • Customizable colors and different complication positions

Complications:

  • Up to 6 complications supported
  • 1 large centre complication
  • Multiple smaller top and bottom complications
  • Supports most Apple and third-party apps (weather, calendar, fitness, battery, reminders, etc.)

GMT: For the Frequent Traveler (Best for: Multiple Time Zones)

Another one of the professional-looking options I enjoy using from time to time is GMT. It is easily the most practical-looking watch face with a dual-time layout that shows your local time along with a second time zone. While I use it mostly for aesthetic purposes, it can also come in handy if you frequently coordinate across regions.

GMT Watch Face watchOS 26 setup screen side by side

The design also has a classic watch style with some color customization that can even give a subtle custom Apple Watch face. It is not the most data-heavy option, but it works best for time tracking across locations.

Key Features:

  • Dual-time display with 24-hour GMT ring
  • Customizable color themes and styles
  • Classic analog watch design
  • Great for travel and coordination across regions

Complications:

  • Up to 4 complications, depending on layout
  • 4 corner complication slots around the dial
  • Supports options like Weather, Calendar, Activity, Battery, and more

Most Stylish and Fun Apple Watch Faces

Hitting the night to someplace fancy? Then your average watch face won’t do your attire justice. Might I interest you in California, Palette, or if you are a wacky kind, then try Snoopy.

California: Classic Elegance for Formal Wear (Best for: Professional Settings)

The California watch face has long been my go-to watch face when I require my Apple Watch to look more formal and less like a gadget. It brings the basics up front and looks classy. You get the time, obviously, along with a bunch of options for the dial-markers, including Devanagari if you want Hindi numerals. You can go full-screen or circular with the watch face.

I prefer full-screen, which gives me access to two complications. However, if you go circular, you’ll get four extra complications on each corner of the watch face. So if you want extra information on your wrist, you can go with that. Another thing I really like about this watch face is that it has one of the best-looking Always-on-displays of any Apple Watch face.

Key Features:

  • Roman and Arabic numeral dial design
  • Customizable colors and styles
  • Multiple dial shapes, including circular and full-screen
  • Classic analog watch aesthetic

Complications:

  • Up to 5 complications
  • 4 corner complication spots
  • Supports complications like Date, Weather, Activity, Battery, and more

Snoopy: Whimsical and Charming (Best for: Kids & Fun)

If you’re looking for a whimsical and fun watch face, the Snoopy watch face (introduced with watchOS 10) is one that you should definitely try. As the name suggests, this watch face brings the iconic Snoopy to your watch face. He, along with Woodstock, plays around your watch and even interacts with the watch’s hands depending on the time of the day.

The Always on Display for this watch face is beautiful as well, as it shows Snoopy resting in different poses throughout the day. It’s a fun way to check the time on your watch, but be warned, you will find yourself checking your watch way too often just to watch the characters play around.

Key Features:

  • Fun Snoopy and Woodstock animations
  • Changes positions in the always-on-display
  • Weather-aware and context-aware animations
  • Clean analog layout with customizable colors

Complications:

  • Not supported

Palette: A Colorful Gradient for Every Hour (Best for: Art Lovers)

Palette is a more colorful watch face that I have tried on the Apple Watch Series 10 during a few casual outings and evening events. I like the layered color gradients that shift subtly as you move your wrist, creating a dynamic look that looks interesting to view from time to time.

The large time display is easy to read, and you can try out different color combinations, too. It is not built as one of the best Apple Watch faces for productivity, but if you want something artistic that still looks premium, it works really well.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic color gradient design
  • Easy-to-read time
  • Customizable color combinations
  • Motion-responsive visual effects

Complications:

  • Upto 4 complications
  • Can add complication around the dial
  • Supports complications like Weather, Activity, Calendar, Battery, and more

Best Apple Watch Faces for Fitness Enthusiasts

Do you like to get up early and start your run or hit the gym? Well, fitness lovers, you should go with Apple Watch faces that can keep up the pace with you. Like Activity, Nike Global, or Bounce.

Activity Analog / Digital: Track Your Rings in Style (Best for: Fitness Motivation)

Another watch face that’s aimed at people who love to fill up their Activity rings every day, the aptly named Activity watch face comes in two styles: one with concentric rings for Move, Stand, and Exercise goals, and another with each ring assigned its own sub-dial, kind of like a chronograph watch arrangement.

Activity Analog/Digital Watch Face watchOS 26 setup screen side by side

It’s a simple enough watch face to keep track of your activity goals for the day, and it even supports 3 complications: two on the top corners, and one in the bottom. Apart from that, the only customization here is the ability to choose from a bunch of color options, which subtly shade the bezel and the seconds hand.

Key Features:

  • Activity rings for real-time fitness tracking
  • Choice between analog and digital time display
  • Clean layout focused on health metrics
  • Customizable colors and styles

Complications:

  • Upto 4 complications, depending on layout
  • Supports complications like Workout, Heart Rate, Weather, Calendar, Battery, and more

Nike Globe / Bounce: Sporty and Dynamic (Best for: Runners)

For a more sporty look when you’re out for a jog, you should check out the Nike Globe watch face. This watch face brings in a digital clock to show you the time, and the globe’s lines fill up with passing seconds to give your watch a nice dynamic look.

Nike Bounce/Globe Watch Face watchOS 26 setup screen side by side

In terms of customisation, you get a lot of color options, and the watch face supports 4 complications (one on each corner), so you can have important information displayed there. This one is a fairly simple watch face that offers a nice sporty look, while also not being too cluttered with complications or animations.

Key Features:

  • Motion-responsive animations
  • Unique rotating globe (Globe) and bouncing numeral (Bounce)
  • Great for casual and fitness-focused use

Complications:

  • Up to 4 complications
  • Supports complications like Activity, Weather, Calendar, Battery, and more

Minimalist Faces for a Clean Look

Don’t want to overdo things and like to keep them minimal, then you would like Apple Watch faces like Numerals Duo and Contour.

Numerals Duo: Perfect for Casual Outings

If you’re looking for a watch face that’s perfect for a casual outing with your friends, or maybe a trip to the beach, check out Numerals Duo. This watch face displays just the time in two-toned numerals on your watch screen and looks pretty nice.

There are a bunch of color schemes that you can choose from, and a couple of styles as well. This watch face doesn’t support any complications, however, which is why it’s best used for casual use cases like heading out to the beach.

Key Features:

  • Large dual hours and minutes display
  • Clean, minimalist aesthetic
  • Customizable colors and font styles
  • Full-screen design optimized for modern displays

Complications:

  • Not supported

Contour: Highlighting the Current Hour

If you want a watch face that’s clean and minimal but also brings a little bit of a dynamic element, Contour is probably for you. It’s an absolutely stunning-looking watch face that gradually changes throughout the day to highlight the current hour. This means that the watch face always looks subtly different from hour to hour, and Apple has custom-designed the font to perfectly fit into the edge of your Apple Watch.

Contour Watch Face watchOS 26 setup screen side by side

You get a bunch of color options here, including a slider to further adjust the darkness or lightness of the colors, along with two different styles for the font, and the ability to turn the dial color on or off. The watch face also supports two complications, but my recommendation would be to simply use the top complication for the date and keep the bottom complication turned off for a cleaner look.

Key Features:

  • Edge-to-edge curved numeral design
  • Subtle motion animations when raising the wrist
  • Customizable colors and fonts

Complications:

  • Upto 2 complications supported
  • Both inside the dial

How to Choose the Right Apple Watch Face for You

Confused about which Apple Watch face to go with? Let me help you clear things out and choose the right one for you.

  • Decide Your Priority: Start by figuring out what matters most to you. Do you want health data at a glance, maybe you want more style, or prefer a minimal look?
  • Complication Support: If you rely on apps like weather, calendar, fitness tracking, or reminders, choose a watch face that supports multiple complications.
  • Readability and Layout: Many watch faces are easy to read in different lighting conditions. Pick one to easily check the time on, without having to stare at it for an hour.
  • Customization Options: Many watchOS 26 faces allow color changes, fonts, and layout tweaks. I would say select the one that matches your preferences.
  • Battery Considerations: Some watch faces can drain more battery than others, like Snoppy with heavy animations and a complicated always-on style. The simpler the design, the less battery it will consume.
  • Ease of Interaction: Choose a face that lets you access the features you use most with minimal taps or swipes.

How to Customize and Share Your Apple Watch Face

No matter which Apple Watch face you liked the best on our list, if you’re going to start using one, you might be wondering exactly how you can go about editing the face to use your favourite complications, or to change the color themes and more. Fortunately, it is really easy to customise your Apple Watch face, and you can do it directly on the watch as well as on your iPhone.

If you’ve been using a watch face that’s completely customised to your needs, and you want to share it with your friends and family so that they can start using it too, it’s easier than ever before. Since the release of watchOS 7, you can easily share your Apple Watch face with other Apple Watch users. Check out the linked article for a step-by-step guide on how to do just that.
