They all are water-resistant devices. When it comes to AirTags, they have an IP67 rating, which is the same as the water-resistance rating of the iPhone SE. With this rating, an AirTag is highly resistant to water damage.

An IP67 rating is sufficient in everyday usage where exposure to water is possible. So, your AirTag can tolerate spills, splashes, and other water damage. AirTags Water-Resistance Explained

IP rating denotes the level of protection that an electronic device offers. It contains two different parts – the word IP followed by two digits. The first digit denotes protection against solid foreign objects and is rated on a scale of 0 (no dust protection) to 6 (highest protection). The second digit denotes protection against liquids and scales from 0 (no water protection) to 9 (highest protection). With a rating of IP67, an AirTag has good water resistance.

How to Dry an AirTag

To escape any water damage, you should avoid getting your AirTag wet. However, if that happens accidentally, you must dry the AirTag properly. Here’s the right way to do it:

1. Wipe any water on the surface of the AirTag using a lint-free dry cloth.
2. Once the outside is dry, remove the battery cover. For this, place your fingers on the Apple logo, press it down, and turn the cap counterclockwise.
3. Now, separate the cover, body, and battery. If you see any liquid, gently wipe it with a lint-free cloth.
4. To be on the safer side, let them air dry for an hour or so. Make sure you don’t place the tracker inside a rice container or use a dryer to fasten the process. Some people may use this trick when their iPhone gets wet, but Apple warns that this method to dry an iPhone is harmful.
